Yeah we didnt execute either half besides scoring a free kick off their guys head.
Id still much rather not keep forcing the ball to the outside when their entire team is camping there because they watched us do it against every other team. The swap was good. We lost.
But yeah, blame the coach rather than the players. He shouldve covered crosses better.

He’ll probably take a HC position in Europe so he can work with players that don’t piss down their legs.

It's kind of wild we got him for 2 years
Poch wasn't exactly in demand when we got him.
He was on the precipice of a huge spiral and he took a job at the lower levels (national team) and raised his profile to get another solid job to avoid sliding down like he was on track to do.

This performance was on par with Gregg

We won more with Gregg because we were much better defensively under him, but were worse offensively.
With Poch, I remember someone said it here earlier, we had a higher ceiling, but a lower floor.
We had more exciting results with him, but overall we played worse under him than we did with Gregg using roughly the same player pool.

What about Mitrovich?
Has experience with the youth system, mls, europe?

I really hope Poch stays, he is almost perfect for our national team.
We need all USMNT starters playing in Europe over the next 4 years, no fookin MLS players need to be starting on the pitch. I'm not sorry. There is a reason they play in the MLS. Tim Ream and his man bun need to retire.
The first and last goals Belgium scored were no good. The first goal our back line must be able to intercept that ball, and the third.....no comment.
In the words of Sean Dyche, JUST FACKING HOOF IT.

This is such a dumb way to designate things.
Old MLSer Tim Ream was a better option than our bench CB options that included two guys (Mark McKenzie and Austin Trusty) that are consistently starting in Europe.
We need our players to find a system (preferably in Europe) that develops and highlights there skillsets. It's about fit, not about ticking the box that you played in Europe.

2024 was a disaster with GB.
21-22 qualifying was pretty terrible as well.
Defensive issues last night were completely down to inexscusable individual errors and guys not winning 1 on 1, 2 on 1 battles.

We also had a win streak against Mexico, won the Nations League three times and the Gold Cup.
Under Poch, we never beat Mexico, missed the Nations League final for the first time in the tournament's existence and experienced our worse Round of 16 loss ever.
Stop putting Poch on a pedestal. His tenure wasn't good.

How many times did he play Mexico? Twice? Wasn't one a friendly?
I'm not putting him on a pedestal, it was an awkward cycle, with no qualifying and he managed to get the team playing some of our best ball on the global stage for 3 games out of 5 in the WC.
He deserves credit for that and I don't think a tremendous amount of blame for last night.
Doesn't matter at this point but I struggle with sitting here and suddenly forgetting the excitement after the first 2 group stage games and the BH game and then pull the woah is Poch card.

So he gets all the credit, but none of the blame for yesterday. That seems hella coveinent.
You're not seeing the forest for the trees.
The whole point of this World Cup was to make our deepest run yet because this supposed golden generation was in its prime and it was a tournament on our shores. Yet, all we did was make as far as Gregg, Jurgen, Bob et al.
Poch isn't anything special.

Poch won 2 out of 3 group stage games and a knockout game. (you can argue the draw here, fine).
The other 3 won 1 game each and have no knockout stage wins to their name.
Talk about a convenient way of looking at things.
If we're looking at results in absolute, fine, Poch sucks like the rest but I think that is unfair given the circumstances in which he took over and the lack of full qualification build up.
Can agree to disagree.

You're the only one disregarding results here.

To be clear, 2 wins in the group stage vs 1 and another in a knockout stage are the same since it was still a round of 16 exit?
Again, we're just going to have to agree to disagree.

The best quality American team ever playing in the Round of 16 on their home field.
And we were not even competitive. We looked unprepared and unmotivated.
That is not all on him, but a big part of it is.
As Alexi Lalas said "He was paid to get us beyond the Round of 16".
We got all the legal, and questionable, advantages that FIFA could give us and did not capitalize.
He's not American. He doesn't speak good English.
I vote to not renew.
