They were arse and seeing ghosts because Poch got the tactics all wrong to open the match and Belgium knew everything we were doing.
Players don't see ghosts that easily unless it's in their own heads

Who is your replacement then?
You lose Poch you’re looking at another Gregg type of hire.

And yet they still gameplanned Pulisic out of the match. And then they cut through our press like butter just by playing the ball through the air instead of the ground.

When it's one or two players, it's on the players, when it's the whole goddam team, it's on the staff.

Id like to see him stay. The halftime adjustments were right.

Idk, but Poch isn't it either.

You're acting like Poch reached a level that Gregg, Jurgen, Bob, Bruce, Bora didn't.

Explain.
What I saw in the second half was a Belgium team content sitting on the lead because they knew we couldn't break them down... which we didn't.
Belgium shelled and all we did was Greggball our way around the box until we turned it over and they broke on the counter.

Obviously Belgium is levels above us in quality of players, but we should have had a better fight.
But here Broski is right about the tactics. They bullied our wings, (which were effective in the other matches), and also out aggressed our middle by cutting off the passing lanes from our back line, completely neutralizing any time on the ball for Weston. This is what Garcia did in France and Italy. He did his homework, we didn’t do ours and got punched in the mouth early on.
I can’t guess what our mental state was prior to the match but it was clearly shell shock from the get go, and we couldn’t recover fast enough. Hence them getting so many shots off and scoring within ten minutes.

The real World Cup was the friends we made along the way.

Yes. They overloaded the edges and forced us to play up the middle and we didnt make the gio for dest sub to do that until halftime.
But u cant overreact. He made right changes at halftime

He made changes at the half, but how were they right?
We still didn't create any chances.

We had less xG in the second half than the first.

Also had way more possession

Belgium dictated that, not us.
Also, possession is to soccer what pitching W-L is to baseball.

Our xg in the first half were based off a free kick and 2 half chances for balogun. We played better in the 2nd half

No... no we did not. We were absolute shite in both halves.
Again, having more of the ball =/= playing better.

Ok, agree to disagree. We barely touched the ball the first half and every time we did, we passed it to the sidelines where their defense was overloaded sitting on it waiting for it.
We made changes at half, were able to get the ball into the middle of the field, pass it around the top of the box, and then do nothing with it.

And if Belgium didn't sit back in a bunker in the second half, the same thing would've happened.
Posted on 7/7/26 at 1:14 am to Broski
Nope. Watch the game again. We made a change to not force the ball to the sidelines. So it wouldnt have happened the same

Yeah all that extra second half possession garnered us one shot and 0.25 xG.
