Prepare for the inevitable 0-0 draw tomorrow

One of the 2 teams will play in the final just like this game.
And Arsenal will once again be denied hardware. This is the way.

Just watched the highlights. That was the final.

I said before the match that I would certainly take a one-goal difference back to Allianz. It's sure better than having to win by four next week like it was when it was 5-2...I admire the fight to get back in it; some Bayern squads in past years would have folded like a card table and let it get worse.
Olise keeps doing Olise things, and that 60M transfer fee keeps looking like money well spent...but Diaz has been exceptional this year, especially when the squad needs motivation. Endless motor, fearless attacking, and just the perfect first touch on that 4th goal.
PSG proved their worth in a big way today...I'm fully prepared to watch a sixth (6th!) CL semifinal exit at Telemachus & Banks next Wednesday, but we'll see if there's a little more magic left in the Sudkurve to get us to Istanbul...

As long as Arsenal don't win it, I'll be good.

Arsenal in the CL:
10-W
2-D
0-L
They are still the betting favorite because they play defense better than anyone left in the competition. Arsenal have given up three goals in a match only twice in two years in any competition.

The absolute difference we are about to watch today compared to yesterday will be hilarious. We are going from Heavy Metal Football to straight Haram-Ball. Simeone vs Arteta is straight football terrorism and dark arts.

I agree 100%.
In the end all that matters is the result.

Hakimi out for the 2nd leg, hamstring injury.

If severe enough could be out for the final.

I agree with Artetas approach at least at this point because if he doesn't win something, there will be a melt of titanic proportions.

Dogshit lineup from Arsenal, so it's going to be a hoofball fest.

Atleti have attacking talent and have turned it up this year

This video by Tifo Football explores the tactical evolution of Atlético Madrid under Diego Simeone, detailing how the club moved from a rigid, defensive identity to a more open and attacking style.
The Shift in Identity
Historically known for a "low block" and two rows of four defenders—a style famously criticized by Jürgen Klopp in 2020 [00:13]—Atlético has undergone a massive squad overhaul. With 20 new players arriving in the last four transfer windows, Simeone himself has admitted that the team now "attacks better than it defends" [01:22].
Tactical Innovations
Fluid Buildup: The team has moved away from defensive rigidity. They now often vacate central midfield to create overloads on the wings, using passing triangles to punch through opposition structures [01:35].
Aggressive Fullbacks: Players like Nahuel Molina and Mateu Morey are encouraged to make aggressive overlapping and under-overlapping runs to support the attack [01:48].
The "False Nine" Duo: Instead of traditional target men like Falcao or Diego Costa, the team utilizes Antoine Griezmann and Julián Álvarez as roaming forwards. They drop deep to link transitions, making it difficult for opponents to counter-press [02:06].
Defensive Personnel: Hard-nosed defenders like Diego Godín have been replaced by ball-playing center-backs like Robin Le Normand and David Hancko, who are more accomplished in possession but perhaps less defensively solid [03:42].
Statistical Impact
This shift has resulted in much higher-scoring matches:
None of Atlético's last 36 Champions League matches have ended 0-0, averaging nearly four goals per game [03:28].
In the current Champions League season, they are the third-highest scorers (34 goals) but also have the second-worst defensive record among the top teams (26 goals conceded) [04:07].
The team has conceded three or more goals in a single match seven times this season, including a heavy defeat to Tottenham [03:22].
Conclusion
While Simeone hasn't entirely abandoned his "dark arts" or tactical versatility—occasionally still using a 5-4-1 shape [03:05]—he has successfully adapted to modern trends. Atlético is now characterized as a "flawed but fundamentally entertaining" side that prioritizes proactive play and high-risk buildup [04:14].
