Different type of players. Podolski has more pace and a hard finisher. RVP is more of a technical player.

Not saying it's redundant.. just that it seems like an exceedingly rare occurrence unless lefties are more prevalent in high level soccer than in normal life..

ETA: Anyone know If Arsenal will be stateside for any friendlies/tourn etc this off season?

I can't read gibberish, so I can't tell if you're trying to be sarcastic.

Much like great tennis players.

Laver
McEnroe
Conners
Nadal

Left handed people are better on average at athletic events than the normal people.

I actually thought I had heard that before, so I'm not surprised.

Look at the Dutch national team:

Van Persie - Left
Van der Vaart - Left
Robben - Left
Sneijder - Either

Im not being sarcastic. Having a solid left foot isnt common. Even here in the states the select coaches look for lefties. Im pretty sure a lot of us that grew up playing soccer would have a shot at some pro level with rvps left foot. How hard is that to understand? All things equal they will take a lefty over a rt. This is just my experience from playing years of select soccer.

A left footed player who can cross the ball decently well and isn't a complete liability on defense/is just average has such a high chance of making it pro as a left back.

So you still have the technical and tactical abilities that it takes to be a professional player, just you're right footed and not left? I don't know what select club you played for but we didnt add players to our squad just bc we needed a left footer.

I dont now, i havent played in 10 years. It was just saying how good rvp left foot is. From his shot to his first touch. mine was terrible and my rt foot was just good enough. I just think there was a preference and so few to choose from.

I wish I had played left back. Back when I played defense spots was for all the husky guys, while smaller fast guys played up front.

Good luck with Poldi. One thing is for sure, you won't get mad at him for not shooting.

Now I/us gunners have 2/11ths stake in the GNT. Or maybe just 1/11th assuming Per will be out for the whole thing.

Can't wait for the Euros

So I'm really not familiar with signing rules, is he allowed to participate or no this season?

Cologne currently sit 14th in the Bundesliga, with Podolski having scored more goals (16) than all of his team-mates put together (15).

He's the Cologne version of RvP!

He was pretty bad at Bayern but he's finally getting back to form that got him called up to the National Team even though Cologne was in the 2.Bundesliga.
