Read a good article on his career path this morning, but it was 5:30 so I don't remember where I found it haha. It was on the Guardian's site by a German football expert. Think it was @honigstein. It was from December but had some good tidbits about his journey. Included a shot from Klopp in there and a nice retort from Poldi (since he's pretty much ours, I can use that right?)

You may use "Poldi." Glass can as well, since he's a Germany fan. Leauxgan and thenry, I'm not sure.

I have chills after watching that video. The quality of goals is just stunning.

Thanks for posting that.

I'm going to answer you even though I'm not 100% positive, but I would think August for the start of the EPL (or the Champions League Qualifier. Could be good or bad not being in this.)

Its a summer move, we've just already agreed to terms with Köln.

Hrmm, I guess I was just confused as something like that would be considered tampering in most sports over here

Not if you're negotiating with the club. Though I imagine we did tamper some at some point.

I'm not saying we are tampering, I guess it's more that there isn't really anything in american sports that compares to inter-league trading so it seems like it would be illegal (i.e. anything outside the norm is viewed as wrong initially mentality)

I'm surprised every time I see how young Podolski is. Seems like he's been around forever.

Pretty awesome we got this done so early, fairly high profile signing for Arsenal at least. Most importantly he'll get definite kit consideration from me if he's successful here.

Podolski is turning down double his salary to come to us

quote:

The 26-year-old is expected to complete a £10.9m move from Köln to the London club at the end of the current campaign and will commit to a four-year deal that, according to sources in Germany, is worth around £100,000 a week when signing on fees and associated bonuses are taken into account.

His manager at Köln, Stale Solbakken, was resigned to losing his services in the summer and Anzhi, an emerging force in European football who are now overseen by Guus Hiddink, had been willing to pay him a weekly salary of nearer £200,000 to swap the Bundesliga for the Russian Premier League.

OMGOMGOMG

@YoungGunsBlog: USA U15 midfielder Gedion Zelalem trained with the Arsenal first-team today. Quite an achievement. He will sign next summer.

LINK ]Story from The Washington Post written last fall
quote:

Zelalem is a German citizen, born and raised in Berlin before moving with his family to Bethesda, Md., in 2006. He has always dreamed of playing for Germany, but after a second call-up to a U.S. junior team this week and growing interest in the long-term course being set by senior boss Juergen Klinsmann, Zelalem might end up turning to his adoptive country.

ETA: Why is he training with the first team? A tackle from Song could break him in half.
