Is there any doubt at this point that Welbeck is better than Giroud? I'm kind of glad Giroud got injured now because I wonder if we would have gotten Welbeck if he hadn't.

Santi looked good centrally. I've never really liked him out wide.

Flamini was serviceable but Gala were super slow. This is also why our back line didn't struggle. I'm still not comfortable without a fast, athletic holding DM there, which would allow someone like Santi, Jack, or Ramsey freedom to move up in the attack. I wouldn't mind putting Ox in that spot once Theo gets healthy.

Also FOBUD that article on Zelalem was fantastic.

It was even linked by socceroverthere. LINK

Yeah, Welbeck hasn't shown me Giroud's flicks and brilliant take downs yet, but he's such a threat to get in behind that he gets so much more space to bring the ball down, control it, and make a play. I'm very excited about Welbeck.

I thought one of the reasons we played so well was because of how well he kept the ball. Gala would press hard on him when he took the ball, and he would do his Santi wizard shite, absorb pressure, beat it, and play into space. He was huge there. Ramsey has been taking so many chances and been untidy with the ball, and it's stifled our attack. I wonder how we can incorporate Santi more in that deep role.

It was great to see Welbeck finally get the results he deserves for his play. So far he has played great and gives max effort for us IMO. Just what this team needed. He just had a hard time finding the back of the net. Hopefully this performance gives him the confidence he needs to be great going forward.

I can't wait to see how good he is going to be. He has an extremely high ceiling.

Watching Welbeck get that hat trick yesterday was awesome! If he can sort out his finishing and be consistent like he was yesterday, he's going to be great. He always gets chances from pace, power and work ethic.

I just think Welbeck and Giroud are two completely different players who bring different styles to the striker position. I think having both of them healthy will finally give Arsenal different playing options to use against different opponents.

For instance, against teams who insist upon sitting back and soaking up pressure, Giroud might be an option to come on and try to create intricate passes and get on the end of some crosses (See 16 corners against Tottenham). However, games that are more open certainly are asking for Welbeck to play.

We've been begging for diversity in attack for years. I think we finally have it this year once we get some people healthy.

against certain teams, i think santi in the deep role works. *really* don't think it'd work for chelsea though. if he's fit enough to give us 60 mins, I'd start diaby over flamini and charge he and wilshere with playing very defensive and allow ozil and welbeck, aided by the pace of alexis and ox, to hit on the counter.

i know diaby probably isn't optimally ready for a match of this intensity, but i just really hate flamini and this is one of those matches where he'll get a yellow in the first 30 minutes. he's not mobile and not great with positioning and is liable to do something dumb. we need a bit more passing acumen for their pressing too.

it's imperative that we score the first goal sunday. if we can do that, they'll have to take more risks and we are set up to be a super counter-attacking side. if not, we could be in for a real struggle.

My favorite thing is how young and oddly enough experienced our youngsters are.

Chambers: 19
Bellerin: 19
Ox: 21
Jack: 22
Jenkinson: 22
Ramsey: 23
Welbeck: 23
Sczcesney: 24
Ozil: 25
Walcott: 25
Gibbs: 25
Alexis: 25

That's a decent XI of guys all under 25.

Szcz
Bellerin/Jenks- Chambers - CB? - Gibbs
Jack-Ramsey
Walcott-Ozil-Alexis
Welbz

Ox off the bench or plugged in anywhere in the midfield.

That's a core that should only get better over the next three years, if we keep it together and healthy. Really want Jack and Ramsey to learn to play together in the midfield.

Saw that. Arsenal charged with insufficient organization... We are charged for Gala fans sneaking flares into the stadium, lighting them, and throwing them onto the field......

I'm not under any delusion that Arsenal can get anything from this game. There is no chance of it. Wenger will set up to play the same way like we always do, and we will get ripped apart for it.

But I can hope, and will still watch every single minute of it. Come on you Gunners!
