Man, will Theo and Ozil ever play together? Seems like a match made in heaven, and we can't make it work.
Santi will get plenty of run now. Rosicky may see a few matches too. Luckily we have depth in the attacking midfield, but it's absurd the injury issues we face every season. Absurd. Never seen anything like it.

Well good thing we passed on Cesc so he could go to Chelsea and help them win the league.

Hindsight is 20/20. I'm never a fan of passing on a great player, especially when that player would go to a rival. Whatever.

This fricking blows
On the bright side, Ozil can get a rest. It's at the expense of the team but imo I think he's been a bit fatigued.
Also, The 4-1-4-1 will actually work now with two of Ramsey, Wilshere, Santi, Diaby partnering with Flamini or Arteta in midfield.
Thank God Theo is coming back. A front 3 of Alexis-Dat Guy Welbz-Ox/Theo will still be able to win us some games. We just have to make it past the next 2 months. We only have Liverpool and United as the only big teams left to play til the new year in the Prem. Worried we'll still finish in 2nd in the Champions League group tho.

I'm more worried about our defense TBH. Kosc's Achilles could go at any time. Per is 30. Gibbs and Monreal are Gibbs and Monreal.
Sad for Mesut but it will be good for him, I think, to get away from the game for a little while. He got virtually no rest this summer.
The 4-1-4-1 will look better with two true wide players wide, I'm sure. I hope we don't shuttle Santi out there. He's looked pretty good centrally.
Alexis-Welbz-Ox/Theo should be our go-to attack when they're all fit.
Also, hopefully this will mean Giroud and Ozil are fit and fresh come season's end. I think we'll get better as we go, and if we can stay within striking distance, we can make a late run. I don't think Chelsea's pace is sustainable, and if Costa misses time, they will definitely drop points.
That said, we're going to fight for third or fourth, probably.

would be impossible to hope for more with these injuries. quickly back into the "qualify for knockout round+4th place+qualify for CL" hope mode. :|
zelalem will probably be on the bench next match, unless we decide to go defensive or call up akpom or crowley over GZ. though it should be short lived as arteta, walcott, and gnabry should all be back fairly soon. who knows with diaby and sanogo.

I honestly think that Costa missing time is all but a given at this point. Dude's hammy is gonna give out any minute now.

We've made changes in medical/training, but it seems this ridiculous run of injuries continues. I've never seen anything like this is any sports team I've rooted for the last 45 years or so.
I'm a rational thinker and have to believe it's random and just plain bad luck.
But I can't help but wonder. Is it something systemic with our training methods?

I can't take it anymore. Good bye world.

I've heard we do too much running and not enough strength work.

At this point I think I'm leaning to training ground being built on some cursed burial site. This just doesn't make sense anymore.
I can understand guys getting hurt from tackles and things like that, but it seems like most of it is just muscle/ligament damage.

We play a very offensive style of soccer that will inherently draw far more fouls than a team playing a defensive style of soccer.
We also are the smallest team in a very physical league. When your average player is 5'9" and 158 lbs compared to several other clubs boasting a 6'1" average player and 168-175 lbs, then you will get more injuries.
We've used what was a revolutionary training method when Wenger arrived since Wenger arrived. It's been 18 years. People have caught up and surpassed us in overall health of athletes. Shad Forsythe has come in, but he is in a newly made position, and nobody from the old training staff left, so he's fighting a pretty difficult battle. It'll also take more than a few months to completely revamp the health and training methods of a club. It'll take at least a full season or two before results come from that.
We play the same amount of competitions as Chelsea and Man City, but we have a smaller pick of true first-team players than they have. This means our number 1s are starting more games than theirs are.
Finally, we've had to rely on young players in their teens to play a large amount of games for us. We have done this while they are still in formative muscle growth years. That's a lot of miles on very young legs that are still trying to grow properly.
Plenty of reasons that likely all compile to mean more injuries for us. I'm sure there are plenty of others, but those are the ones I can put together.

Just got a text, came here to confirm. Damn we literally can't catch a break. I feel bad for wenger because his days are coming to an end and he hasn't had a healthy squad for 8 seasons now.
