This is like my 6th favorite thread.

I'm pretty sure the United thread was my favorite one last year, so I get what you mean. Schadenfreude.

Now Kos is being sent home by France as a precaution with his Achilles. Dear baby Jesus....

I'm starting to get the feeling that our players are being drugged while they sleep and some goon beats the shite out of their legs. The next morning they have no recollection of it, but the are injured and will be out for months.

What would we do defensively if Kosc were to miss the next PL match?
Chambers is suspended. I guess Monreal would have to play CB, but will he be fit? Hayden AND Bellerin would get a first team run I suppose. Christ.

didn't kos initially get the injury in the spring? damn world cup ruined our chance for him to get surgery. he's going to have this issue all year.

And if it ruptures, dear me. One of the worst injuries you can have.
We wouldn't see him again for 10 months or so, and would he really be the same player after that? Would destroy his career and leave us needing to purchase an immediate replacement to be slotted into the starting 11.

All the injuries are horrible... but one of the scarier parts of all this is that our training/medical staff isn't catching these last few... the players' respective international training/medical team staffs are catching the issue.
This is a major problem. If this is a normal occurrence, then our medical staff could be so inept they don't catch a small knock until it's too late and somebody's achilles tendon is hanging off the bottom of their boot.
Identifying small tweaks and nursing them can go a long way to preventing a worse injury down the road. It seems our staff sucks at this part of their job, which, I think, is pretty damn important.

That is so funny and so sad. I can only laugh at this point.
Please sweet baby Jesus, protect all our young lads playing for England today. If some mechanic from San Marino hurts Jack or Danny I will lose my shite.

And I assume that Ox is on the bench. Odds not one out of five get injured? I bet their are odds at Ladbroke's..

No injuries, Wilshere was great and Danny scored. Ox was lively and made a difference in the second half. We are going to okay.

Might have to watch. Did Jack play bottom of the diamond again?

Wenger confirmed today that Walcott and Gnabry are back in full training each day during and after the international break. Music to my ears!
He also confirmed that Ramsey is about 8 days away from rejoining full training and that Arteta will be back with the group at the end if next week.
Doesn't make losing Özil on top of long-term injuries to Giroud and Debuchy any less frustrating, but if we can make it through the Hull City game next Saturday without any further injuries and get Walcott, Gnabry, Arteta and Ramsey all back at the same time, along with Monreal, and we all of a sudden have players back that will allow us to cope until January.
Of course we as Arsenal fans know it's not that simple, and it will be too much to ask for us to enjoy some good fortune for a change and enjoy these players all together again for any extended run of games.
But I will hope (and maybe pray!) that these players will come back healthy and stay healthy for a change.

From reddit:
There are lots of excuses frequently made for Arsenal's incredible amount of injuries - people speak of a curse, or Arsenal being "unable to catch a break." But I think at this point the issue is clearly systematic, so I wanted to do a little research of players, ideally ones who have only played part of their career at Arsenal.
All data is from transfermarkt - not a perfect source, but the best I could get. We'll be comparing days missed due to injury.
Cesc Fàbregas: missed 42 days in 3 seasons at Barça, 299 days in 3 seasons at Arsenal.
Mesut Özil: 0 injuries at Madrid in 3 seasons, 34 days missed in two seasons with Bremen, and an expected 118 days missed for Arsenal (48 so far + 10 week projection).
Podolski: 74 days in 3 seasons with Koln, 117 in 2 seasons with Arsenal.
Giroud: couldn't find much history on him, but it appears he had no major injuries in his pre-Arsenal career.
Mertesacker: bucks the curve, injured only once in 3 seasons with Arsenal (94 days) but had several injuries in 2 seasons with Bremen (200 days)
Gervinho: 37 days in his recorded career (one injury with Lille), 46 days in two seasons at Arsenal.
Song: no injuries in 2 seasons at Barcelona (admittedly didn't play as much, but still had 65 apps), 75 days missed in 4 seasons with Arsenal.
Nasri: 50 days in 3 seasons with City, 180 days in 3 seasons with Arsenal.
Clichy: no recorded injuries in 3 seasons with City, 130 days missed in last 3 seasons with Arsenal.
Other players were left out because there seemed to be big holes in the data or there wasn't enough information.

Wow. While correlation does not equal causation, these numbers cannot be laughed off.
I think the two main reasons have been discussed recently:
1) We are in as many competitions as any club in the world, but thanks to our parsimony--which happily, seems to be changing--we don't have the depth of other top clubs, who can substitute one world-class player for another. I do think fatigue is a big part of Ozil's problems, especially.
2) Our training staff doesn't seem to be catching small knocks before they become more serious injuries.

Squad rotation is an issue. Ozil rarely played more than 60 minutes in a game at Real. He's been run ragged this year and with little to no break this summer.
I highly recommend listening to this week's Arsecast Extra with Phillipe Auclair and Amy Lawrence. Some great perspective on the cohesion (or lack thereof) of our attack, the use of Ozil, and our future.
