Per Twitter this was on ESPN FC yesterday

Do you know if he was considering only NT play, or club play as well?
Some of those are pretty LOL worthy if also considering club play.

Lots of disagreement on the men's team.
But especially Meola > Friedel, Keller, Howard makes no sense to me.

slide Friedel in at keeper and Cherundolo at RB, and I would agree 100%.

Goos was slow as a broken down half-track on a Normandy beach.

TBH, Lalas definitely merits consideration at CB too.

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII don't know about that one. But that's just me.

Not sure, just all-time best per Twitter, I'll try to catch the replay of the show.
Maybe I'm too young to remember the beginning of his career, but "Agoos" and "best" are not complimentary items

We didn't have much else, at the time, so he had to suffice.

At the time, sure, but I always thought he was a weak link on those teams.
I wouldn't of even considered him over a guy like Dolo...

Oh, I don't disagree with you. But there was just no one else. Lalas seems to be trying to bridge generations, and likely has a case of reminiscence in his choices.

Okay yea the Men's team is questionable. But WNT is stacked.

Agoos was essentially what you see from Matt Besler today, but was also the best free kick taker of the late 90s national teamers.
Once his pace went, though - he was done. It's pretty unfortunate that the whole world had to see the bottom of his demise in '02.
It's one of the reasons that I've been (or become) okay with Bocanegra and Gooch easing away from the national team. They both had an Agoos moment brewing.

that mens team would get rolled

Wynalda over Dempsey? I think he would be borderline with Altidore too.
But yes, the most egregious is Meola.

Agoos
2002 was the first world cup I watched intently and one of the main things I remember aside from the early morning victories was how awful Agoos was.

I don't mind Hejduk although I would go with Cherundolo. The midfield is very good although I would take out Ramos (or just put him up to along with McBride, while sitting out Wynalda) and have Dempsey as the 4th midfielder.
Left back is such a historically weak position for us, and it's ridiculous to pick Fabian Johnson since he's so new, so while I don't like Agoos, I can't think of a better name, either.
Boca and Balboa is fine, but our best defender of all time is Eddie Pope, and he should be there.
However, the only terrible part of his XI is Meola, when he is at best the 4th option behind Friedel, Keller, and Howard. Friedel is our best keeper, but he doesn't have as many caps with the NT as Howard or Keller (and he only started in one World Cup), so I'd pick one of those two.

Dempsey, Eddie pope, anyone but agoos, and pick one of friedel, Keller, or Howard and you have our actual best 11
Hard to believe Beasley can't beat out Ramos or agoos for a spot on the left side

Well, Beasley is a marginal left back and Ramos was an exceptional player as a LM. If I had to pick ONE LM, though, I'd take Eddie Lewis in his prime (01-05ish) over either of those.
You could make the argument that Bocanegra is still the best LB we've had, even though most think of him as a CB.
