Pool's brand is huge, but it is not ManU big. That is why the Yankees makes more sense.
Pool would be closer to the Cardinals or something. Again, this is just a fun exercise in futility.

Bayern

I just liked the comparison to the Cards, because they're my favorite baseball team (not that I watch that sport any more)...

There are no great fits, but ManU to the Yankees is pretty damn close. It is not a negative to either team. Both have glorious histories.
Liverpool is more Cardinals than Red Sox, but both ball clubs have been great in the 21st century. Cardinals have had more past success and the second most titles.

Is this really still true? I'm not disagreeing, there just seems to be a sense of London being such an advantage in recruitment (regardless of what level tier of club there you are comparing to a comparable club outside the city)now.
