$5.4 billion budget gap

Don't worry, the white working class will pay all the bills while 45% of the city doesn't speak English.

One: Albany can raise taxes on the ultra-wealthy and the most profitable corporations and address the fiscal imbalance between our city and state.

The other, a last resort: balance the budget on the backs of working people using the only tools at the City's disposal.

I love how his first option shifts the problem to the state to fix.

So the rest of the state bails out NYC.

Do you see a mass exodus this year of the wealthier and or companies?

Let it go the route of San Fran, but I think NYC deteriorates at an exponentially faster rate.

what is amazing is that NY already has some of the highest taxes in the US. Just Chatgpt "does the state of NY have high taxes?"

So he wants to tax more than that.

Sucks for the yankees.

I saw that. Assumed they were trying to elude to some social "HIVE" or "LIKE-MINDED" people living together.

IDK though.

And then the rest of the country bails out New York State. That’s their plan anyway.

Kwame fails to detail what "the only tools at the City's disposal" might entail. The "structural crisis" is just like any state where big cities bear the tax burden relative to the rest of the state. Hochul has a fine line to walk keeping the rest of the state happy in addition to New Yorkers.

That may last a year or two at the most. Either the corporations and wealthy will have their money protected from such actions, or will simply leave. New York is about to return to be a city like it was in the late 70's, except there won't be a Giuliani to save them 15 years later.

Pray for TX and FL.

They're about to be invaded by liberals that voted to destroy NYC for years, and will continue voting for the same policies when they relocate.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani is set to unveil a record $127 billion budget Tuesday — fueled by a proposed property tax hike on New Yorkers, The Post has learned.

The eye-popping preliminary budget — up around $11 billion from the current year — will also call for the city to drain its $10 billion rainy day fund down to next to nothing, sources said.

“This is insanity,” one insider told The Post. “Property taxes haven’t been raised since 9/11.”

The insider, who had knowledge of the budget plan for the 2027 fiscal year, also pointed to drawing down the Big Apple’s savings as a “major red flag” that could hit its bond rating, which would affect the borrowing power of the city.

Hizzoner will officially reveal his first spending proposal Tuesday afternoon, after meeting with top local officials, including City Council Speaker Julie Menin, with whom he’ll have to negotiate the budget.

The same thing that always happens with socialism or communism. Things are great until you run out of other peoples money.

Today, I’m releasing the City’s preliminary budget. After years of fiscal mismanagement, we’re staring at a $5.4 billion budget gap — and two paths.

Guess what agency expense has thrown them far into the red? If you said "Migrant Crisis Services". You should order gold star stickers from amazon and peel yourself off one.

"Migrant Crisis Services" is as much of a line item as the entire NYPD.

But we cannot address that. Ohhhhh for hell no we cannot address that.

Bussing those illegals to NY is having the desired effect.. they just are too stupid to see where the money hole is. All because the media won't touch it. They want them to believe this is due to tax breaks, increased costs of public service for citizens, and somewhere I'm sure they are blaming Trump.
