Trade corporate state tax for job creation (in LA) equivalents (at a progressive discount to same corporate state tax --> more jobs / higher paying jobs, the greater the equivalent discount to corporate state tax, including a zero corporate state tax level);

Build opportunity pipeline via incentives for new industries to grow in LA (eg, wind/solar/battery production, hydrolyzers) infrastructure (EV); commensurately planned education grants to high potential LA students to complete their studies for the future industry growth in LA and offer corporate incentives to hire LA's best and brightest

Partner with industries who will experience significant change via future of retail and work to enable transformation, new technology incentives for being in LA if creating new LA jobs in different segment of value chain (ie, from front line retail to distribution / supply chain)

Let's start with these...

Do everything I can to create disincentives to personal injury attorneys and flush out that poison.

I would focus on creating a system that did not try to gouge big business every time it considered coming into the state. The state is not in a position of strength in bargaining. Our infrastructure sucks, the living situation is not great for new employees and aesthetically we are not an attractive place to place an operation. So, at the onset, we need to make some concession to get business in. Business attracts business and after some extended period of time, the tables will balance out where we are in a better position.

New Orleans MUST be a focus as it is the most marketable city. This means a focused effort on crime and clean up. I remember when Sydney Torress cleaned up the quarter and how nice it was to actually visit. New Orleans is the face of the state. And while many are not going to like this next statement - - the closing of the State Charity hospital system has lent itself to New Orleans' problems.

There needs to be a focus on non-duplication of services and state spending to simply satisfy every niche interest and because things have always operated that way. Just one example, with Tulane and Loyola being present, Louisiana does not need two public law schools. Southern and LSU need to be merged. Sorry - -it is what it is.

Road contracts stop going to local POS contractors who have no clue how to build a road for the long term. These contracts will start going to out of state companies and when local contractors can build a Louisiana road that looks, functions and lasts like a Texas road - - then the contracts can come home.

We have a poverty and education problem...we have to lure in manufacturing jobs or other types of industry that can put people to work without the need for degree or special skills. More on the job training type jobs.

Public programs will remain, but they will be regulated to not create a way of life except for this who genuinely have a need.

I would push for a state tax exemption for people over 65, as well as a property tax exemption for primary residential homes for people over 65. Seniors who have accumulated money and then take it out of state to retire must be curtailed.

Tons of other ideas, but I gotta get back to work

1. Over haul the entire system Tax and legal systems.
2. Fire about 25% of the entire state government workforce.
3. Take over control of the city of New Orleans from Latoya.
4. Close 1/2 the "universities" in the state and fund LSU appropriately as a flagship institution.
5. Clean up the LSP and push crime reduction.

All you have to do to make TOPS solvent is raise the ACT standards by like 2 points.

All you have to do to make TOPS functional is to break down the awards by major and index the number of tops awards for each major to state department of labor statistics which predict employer demand for given majors in 4 years time.

That way, TOPS is producing close to the number of graduates the state’s economy needs in the fields that the state actually needs every year instead of people getting the award whether they take lesbian dance therapy or chemical engineering.

It would encourage hs students to choose underserved majors and avoid less desirable majors from an employment perspective as the scholarships for majors with a dirth of students would be less competitive than those with a glut.

Gather intel on State legislatures and blackmail them into passing legislation that benefits the state and not the clients of the lobbyists that write legislation for them?

First thing I would do is burn the state constitution. That thing is a mess. Then, I would strong-arm the legislature into passing an Enabling Act that would let me rule by decree.

Its disgusting when you actually think how much money is leeched away from you.

Income tax
Social Security
Health Care
Property tax (the worst of all-bc you never really "own" your pieces of dirt)
Sales tax

Everywhere you turn, some tax or payment is taking a cut.

Which would be tolerable if our roads were nice and I didn't have to think "do I *really* need to go to the doctor?".

But alas, the roads are enough to knock a filling out and every ER, if you decide to take that financial hit, is packed with societal leeches using it as their PCP.

Constitutional Convention to overhaul the La Constitution.

Enforce stricter ethics and nepotism laws.

Consolidate the 3 university systems and make the painful choices to eliminate some universities in order to maximize funding at the best ones (with consideration of regional access)

Support tax credits for business but not direct subsidies.

Crack down on pay for play politics.

Audit state agencies and fire employees who regularly perform subpar.

Cut some agencies and consolidate others.

Look at the things Texas does successfully and try to emulate.

State budget should take advantage of oil revenue but not be reliant on it.

Try to foster and incentivize a diverse economy that includes fossil fuels and hospitality but is not dependent on those 2 things.

Some of these things are more doable than others. The problem here is culture. Good Ole Boy politics and people who keep voting for the same people.

Without a functioning economy, you cannot adequately protect or restore coastal areas.

This is all about building an engine that can fund big necessary infrastructure improvements and sustain them long term.

Kill all ambulance chasing pieces of shite.

Kill almost all corporate taxes.

Kill all red tape.

I don't know what to do to make this populous any smarter; feel like that ship has left port and did so decades ago.

You’d best be ready for a large increase on your own property tax if that occurred.

Best bet would be to eliminate the $75k homestead exemption and have those folks contribute. You’d have to couple it with a freeze on each parish being able to just roll forward rates forcing them to redistribute their budget needs over a now larger pool of assessed properties.

Reform the bankruptcy laws so that if you file for BK they can't take your primary residence just like Texas and Florida.

Tax all non-profits.
