We were a military family. All three of us born in different states. The middle brother was born in Hawaii, before it was a state.
We told my brother his entire life ......"You are an illegal alien, not born in the US."

When Georgia played Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl several years back I was with a friend from Georgia at a hotel the night before the game (NYE). We were riding the elevator down to the lobby when we stopped on a floor on the way down. In walks about 4 Hawaii fans who were clearly of Hawaiian/Polynesian ancestry. Very big guys. As they walk into the elevator my drunk, a-hole buddy says: "Hey, welcome to America!"
Needless to say, there were not amused. It took a lot of calming on the ride down to avoid an "international" incident
