The genius of erecting a statue to no one in particular is that you can't really tear it down for anything particular.
That said, is any culture worthy of a statue? And if one was, why would a statue be necessary or even wanted? Where can I find a statue for Chinese, Japanese, Finnish, Peruvian, or Bulgarian culture?
Next question...why is the whole of Africa reduced to a single culture? Ethiopia isn't exactly Senegal or Ghana.
