Again, not advocating an open door policy. Simply suggesting that national origin is not at all a reliable indicator of merit or value.
I agree 100%. The issue comes where you are taking people from countries with little to no way to verify their past. It sucks, as I'm sure there are some good people that would bust their arse to make a life here. But we have to start being smart about who comes here. If Trump did make that comment, I would almost guarantee it didn't revolve around skin color, but more along the lines of realistic statistics about the countries of who is coming here and if they would assimilate and contribute.

I'm not talking about solving class issues. I'm just saying it's probably best if we try not to make class issues worse.
Class issues within the United States, you mean. Certainly, you don't think our immigration policy should weigh class issues of those in other nations above our own, do you?

if you're qualified from the US and have money, a visa is free and takes about 20 days
That only indicates that people want to leave here, it has nothing to do with people wanting to come here.

quote:I know. Even MORE people want to come here.
I got bad news for you, we aren’t New Zealand.
quote:WTF are you babbling about?
You think it’s just a matter of our policy, and not about what people in other countries want for themselves?
There are more people in the world who want to come here than we could possibly accept.
Hence, our priority should be to accept those that benefit us.
You know, those that want to come. Of which, many are from perfectly decent countries. In fact, probably more than we can accept just from that subset.
Go get informed dumb arse.
quote:LOL at your pathetic understanding of the point.
Maybe we should invade Norway and FORCE Norwegians to come here and MAGA.
As always, you're one of the dumbest long term posters on this board if not THE dumbest.

less worthy
Wrong. Not insinuating, but saying less able to contribute. Fact is he is correct. Uneducated, unskilled individuals don't offer as much as educated skilled immigrants. Obviously you don't hire people.

“Probably”?
And you say I need to be informed?

No, it’s your fearless leader’s point. He doesn’t even know why people from shitholes want to come here, yet Norwegians are ambivalent.

Yeah, I’m thinking that doesn’t help make you look smarter. Maybe try a different approach.

One cannot "very clearly" insinuate anything. Insinuate means to suggest or hint, which leaves things open to interpretation.
Quit reaching.
Quit reaching.

No, it’s your fearless leader’s point. He doesn’t even know why people from shitholes want to come here,
Everyone knows WHY they want to come.
Now you're just making shite up.

Yeah, I’m thinking that doesn’t help make you look smarter. Maybe try a different approach.
You are just dumb. That isn't my fault.

No, you haven’t. Your MO from the start has been personal attacks and insults.
Bu I’m going to say this one time, and if anyone plays rhe race card, it automatically invalidates their opinion, but white people from places like Norway are simply superior to people of color from shithole countries.

less worthy of becoming Americans than people from other places
Nobody is “worthy” of becoming an American.
No non-citizen has some global right to citizenship of any other nation.
Your premise is based on the untested premise that America is some gift from the universe that every human has a right to. Trump rightly rejects that premise.

I don't know about you, but that last time I called something a shithole, it was because it wasn't even worthy of discussion.
I find it hilarious that there are always two types of Trump supporters on every controversial topic:
1. He didn't do/say that and/or it was taken out of context, he really meant X, which doesn't sound nearly as bad.
2. Yeah he said it, he meant it, and he's right. He's speaking for the majority of Americans, and that's why I voted for him.

The upsetting thing is that Trump very clearly insinuated that people who live in shithole countries are less worthy of becoming Americans than people from other places.
In the merit-based immigration system he's trying to create, they are indeed less worthy because many don't have marketable skills.

I'm referring to you saying he clearly insinuated that the people weren't worthy to come here.
Again, quit reaching.

quote:So let's eliminate any and all immigration, then? Further, all current Americans must leave?
Nobody is “worthy” of becoming an American.
Worthy does not mean entitled, it means deemed acceptable in this context.
quote:No, it's not. Not at all. The fact that you interpreted my OP in this way tells me all I need to know about you.

What is this bullshite? Who said we are the land of opportunity, and what gave them the right to say it?
It is the American Dream. It is the fact that freedom affords opportunity.
So who said this is the land of opportunity? Basically everyone who has any respect for America at all. Countless politicians, authors, businessmen... PEOPLE from all walks of life and most nations the world over consider the US the land of opportunity. Do you not? Even motherfricking Fox News says so.
And what gave them the right to say it? Are you serious again?

But no, context is not irrelevant. In fact, for me, context is everything. I know that a lot of the things Trump says are taken out of context. But when you look at something he says in the context of other things he's said, taken all together you get a pretty clear picture of his feelings and priorities. Especially when you consider things said behind closed doors (when corroborated).
