I'm convinced many of our elected officials are compromised. They are elected and go to Washington with good intentions, but at some point someone sits them down and explains the REALITY. If they can't be bribed, they and their family's life/health is threatened.
Is this just me? Am I crazy?

They are all theater kids. It’s just an act. Modern politicians are just price takers and are desperate for attention. Nothing they say is real or should be taken seriously. It’s all just an act.

This is basically it, the system wins everytime don't matter what side the fence you're on. No one man is gonna change it will take an act of God. Why you think the richest man in the world left frustrated, the government prints money it's endless they can get whatever resources they need to keep things the way they are.

They've taken away our vote without taking away our vote. The people have no voice in DC, OR representation.

Here is my example of how useless the Republican Party is.
We are $40 trillion in debt. We have a $2 trillion deficit. Debt to GDP is at 125%. We are on an unstainable path. This is a big deal. This is the elephant in the fricking room.
Trump sweeps into power with both a GOP House and Senate and they proceed to make it worse.
Rand Paul going after an 84 year old man is low hanging fruit compared to what I just posted above.

quote:It’s strange, because the narrative is that things are better now because Republicans have made them less worse. Sorta like a reduction in a scheduled increase is called a cut. Making a slight reduction in a $2T deficit is now a win.

Voting is no longer a recourse for citizens.

Well, yea. This is exactly what happens.
No one gets to Washington without massive funding. They are compromised before they are ever elected.
Then, just like a heroin junkie, once they get a taste they are a forever customer. The only ones I kind of trust are the military vets but only the ones that have been in combat, and even those many are compromised.

We're all going to watch another 2 years of Rs holding the Congress and White House and nothing of lasting significance will have been accomplished.
And those who sought to destroy Trump's first presidency through the elaborate Trump/Russia Collusion Hoax and later they tried to imprison Trump through out of control lawfare.....they'll all walk, they'll never face true justice for their crimes.

quote:It starts at the ground roots. It starts in city hall. It starts in county offices. It starts at the state level. Along the way, as a politician ascends, all those 'good intentions' give way to pragmatism and the natural outcome of practical consequences rather than abstract principles or fixed truths.

There's always a bigger picture and economic forces at play. The problem right now is that Dems are driven by an extremist ideology with zero awareness of the long-term and disastrous consequences.

Both parties are full of shite.
But between the two evils I'll stick with the Republicans.
