Ivan and a lot of other storms hurricanes knocked the shite out of BR and didn’t get a footnote outside of the regions.
I remember the press rushing into NOLA for Gustav hoping it would be Katrina 2.0. When it went west they all left and said nothing happened and NOLA was spared. Meanwhile BR was devastated and not one peep from the MSM.

A nothing hurricane which dropped a few inches of rain in NYC.

Two people were killed in my Dad's neighborhood during Gustav, and it took a couple of days to cut away the trees to get them out of the house.

It may be that the cartoonist is trying to imply that illegal immigrants are a 'storm' crashing into the USA.
This is actually how I interpreted it. The real 'hurricane Isaias' is at the southern border, crashing into it and threatening it. It's also a Hispanic name, so the theme fits.
Otherwise it would've been drawn threatening where it actually landed, and if you notice it's only an outline of the US and Mexico and Canada are left off. It also shows the southern border area as well as the east coast "inundated" with that darker shading. Methinks that was all intentional.

It knocked down some trees in NY. Obviously a sign that science is settled and the world is ending in 9 years due to man made climate change.
I remember the good ole days when a storm was a storm, not some ominous result of the evil of man or corporate America.

Looking at the setup for peak hurricane season, Isaias will be Childs play compared to what’s coming in a few weeks. Above average warm temps, very low shear and a La Niña pattern this year will lead to some scary storms. We can only pray none make landfall

We were without power for a week and a half from Katrina and we lived over 200 miles from the coast
If any of those Yankees had to deal with what the people of New Orleans went through post Katrina they’d commit suicide

I know you are being facetious. But as a geologist, the world is definitely not ending in 9 years. In fact the world laughs at us humans and has for the innumerable species that have gone extinct through time. The world tells us to adapt or die. The world take a likin' but it keeps on tickin'!
