I remember Watergate pretty well, and I don't remember anything like this level of journalistic carelessness back then. The constant stream of 'bombshells' that turn into duds is doing much more to damage the media than anything Trump could manage.

Sad thing is that the Watergate reporting wasn’t much off from this, at least initially.

Deep Throat called out Bob Woodward for an early screwup naming a Nixon confidant (Haldeman or Erlichman) as something they weren’t, saying it actually made that person sympathetic for once.

All POTUS is doing is pointing and laughing at the media really. Not much different than razzing the pitching and batting in a baseball game, then ROFL when it works.

If they can dish out trash about 2 scoops and well done steak with ketchup, they oughta be able to accept the 2 scoops of ridicule they get back.

Such dignified journalists that attempt to grandstand and bloviate when it's not their job description, nor the forum, for such deserve everything thrown back at them, and then some.

Woodward & Bernstein actually made two important mistakes in their early reporting of Watergate and this was one of them (though it was Nixon's Press Secretary Ron Zeigler that drew blood from the Post when they published the story misattributing Haldeman's involvement in Watergate to Grand Jury testimony). They had the substance of this story right, but what they got wrong was almost bad enough to get them kicked off the story. You see this depicted toward the end of the movie version of All the President's Men.

When a story goes on as long as this Russia story and the stakes are this high there will be errors. It starts to be just about minimizing them and make the right mistakes and quickly correcting stories to keep credibility.

I’ve heard it in the chillest land,
and on the strangest sea,
yet never in extremity,
it asked a crumb of me.

Yes Emily. I am curious why you didn't use a metaphor for hope though.

I know you want to believe this story. I get that. But can’t you see, at long last, that it’s a fantasy?

One huge difference in Watergate and this Russia investigation is that Watergate involved a specific crime. This Russia investigation is a fishing expedition in search of a crime

What you are hoping for is unpatriotic and you are unpatriotic for hoping for it. Agree?

Disagree. Not surprising. You have turned into an Obama hater from 7 years ago. It just proves how far from the middle you actually are.
