Wouldn't it make sense for invaders at the southern border to be shot on sight?

Pretty simple fix that would solve a lot of America's immigration problems. If you cross the southern border in any area that's not an approved crossing station, you're an invader and dealt with as such.
Guarantee the attempts would drop by about 90%, and the remaining 10% wouldn't be very successful. We could even automate a lot of it.
A winning campaign promise, don't even need to build a wall.

If people are verified as being armed, they could justifiably be shot. Otherwise you need to employ nonlethal measures.

Something non lethal would be fine. ... rubber bullets, bean bags, then held at Guantanamo.

We need an automated CIWS like they use on naval vessels, but they're full of pepper balls. If those don't work, switch to bean bag rounds.

Issuing shoot on site orders would stop illegal immigration immediately. Sure it’s horrible but examples must be made in order to reign in the madness. After that the only ones sneaking in will be the really bad hombres and I feel it would expose just how bad a situation it is as even those numbers will be eye opening.

It's really easy actually. If you want to cross, go to an established border crossing. If you want to die, try to invade at a non-approved crossing. There's no ambiguity.

America has failed Americans and the migrants are just taking the path we've allowed. If you're going to begin shooting illegal immigrants in crossing, we first need to start at least trying to control the border and get word out about what's coming.
