I’m reading that many modern countries do keep poles open for 3 days (or longer), including Russia.

It seems trivial that our elections are open for one day. Expanding it one day on each side would seem to benefit both sides.

Opening maximum access should be the aim of any modern democracy.

Most people here want to restrict it and make it as difficult as possible

Hence the "it needs to be one day in person voting only"nonsense

Hell no, the dims kept counting for 7 extra days in some places. They would go to an extra 30 days.

If we can know a big lottery winner the next morning we should be able to know a president in the same amount of time.

That is simply not true. But you know this already.

Most people want ACCURATE, SAFE elections where all legally cast votes are counted. And by accurate, I mean that all voters are verified to be who they say they actually are. You know, like you have to do to buy beer or dip, purchase a gun, check out a library book, drive a care... things like that.

No, even some of the most remote 3rd world countries can manage having an election day and deciding the winner that day.

All the "muh democracy" folks just want more ways to steal elections.

Get your arse to the polls if you give a shite, if you don't, then stay home and don't bitch.

In areas that have early voting, the polls are open many more days than just one.

One day is enough. Grow up and vote the day that one day is on the calendar. If you miss it, so sad, too bad.

I would support a week long election as long as people had to vote in person.

Mail in ballots is where the fraud is.

Why more time if people know what is about to happen?

If you are a Powerman go find a 120/240V and hold on to it without grounding yourself.

Voting ain’t hard baw. It’s never been easier. If Election Day is a problem you can vote absentee. It should require some minimal effort. We don’t need paid runners filling out thousands of ballots. We all know what you really want.
