Yes, I would hire a "felon". But likely not somebody like yourself posting such questions.

Also, charges don’t equal guilt, even the offender accepts a plea.

If you accept a plea it's an admission of guilt to something.

I guess that would depend on your business model. I’m not here to kink shame. You do you.

Interesting. What if he's homeless?

A truly rehabbed felon is the absolute best employee you can get for some kinds of work. They will put normal people to shame with work ethic because they don’t want to go back to whatever shite they were in.

Yes, I do some work with people who are turning their lives around. It’s great seeing people who are moving forward and becoming positive contributors to society.

Most felonies shouldn't even be crimes, so yeah.

A thief or rapist, nah.

Street pharmaceutical rep, sure.

A convicted felon cuts my grass and is a good friend of mine. His crime was a wakeup call to get his life together, and now he runs a successful business (in addition to occasionally mowing lawns for extra cash) with his wife and has a kid.

Those who have read their Bible know of a convicted felon (wrongfully convicted of course) who rose to power in Egypt to become second only to Pharaoh in power and influence.

Apart from that, I would say that if no one will hire a convicted felon, then what’s the point of sentencing any felon to anything less than a life sentence?

Now, hiring habitual offenders is another question altogether. To that, I would say no. A habitual offender has shown the core of his make up to be untrustworthy.

My family took in a convicted drug dealer who served 6 years. He works hard and is honest. My father has been a mentor/surrogate dad to him. I asked him how he managed to straighten out his life and he said that his relationship with God has kept him on the straight and narrow.

Yes. As long as it wasn’t a crime involving moral turpitude

What a stupid/childish thread question!
Wanna apply some limitations on circumstances involved?

Right. And I’m sure there are no DAs who would railroad poor people into accepting pleas.

Depends on the crime they committed. A man that gets busted with some pills in his pocket? Yeah he definitely deserves a second chance. A man that touched a child? frick no, he can die like a dog in the street.
