Biden has credentials but fundraising is going to be an issue. I don’t think Biden can generate enough money without taking PAC money. These small donor grassroots campaigns by Beto and Sanders puts him at a big disadvantage. Still, there’s a lot to go after on Biden’s Foreign Policy including Iraq and Obama’s bumbling of ME policy over 8 years.

LINK

quote:

While Biden was already likely to enter the race even without the encouragement of foreign leaders, one Democratic Party official close to Biden’s circle said that their support had fueled his appetite to run. He is now widely viewed as likely to announce a 2020 bid in the coming weeks.

These nudges from abroad are a reminder of the heavyweight foreign policy credentials Biden would bring to a Democratic field in which they are currently in short supply. None of Biden’s prospective rivals have the global experience or relationships with foreign leaders that Biden enjoys. But neither do they carry the baggage that comes with decades of involvement in controversial U.S. foreign policy decisions.

A former Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman, Biden has specialized in foreign policy for decades — a key reason why Barack Obama, who had modest credentials of his own in that realm as a freshman senator, tapped Biden to be his 2008 running mate. As vice president, Biden was Obama’s ever-present adviser on world affairs and played a leading role in their adminstration's Iraq and Ukraine policies.

Even some prominent conservatives concede that Biden would bring to the campaign a formidable depth of knowledge of global events, especially compared to his would-be Democratic rivals.

“If you look at this field, Biden is a giant in terms of his actual foreign policy experience. They have nowhere near the hands-on experience that he’s had,” said Ken Weinstein, president of the conservative Hudson Institute. “He spent decades talking to world leaders and in that sense, he’s got far deeper contacts.”

You really think this guy collected 6.1 million from small donors? I don't consider George Soros a small donor.

I know he does. He had like 800,000 unique donors vs Cruz last year in one quarter. A quarter where he raised over 30 million.

He was chairman of Senate Foreign Relations Committee for like 10 years? Biden has real relations and understanding of foreign policy. His boss didn’t.

I would think age would be an issue. he would be sworn in at 78 years old. 5 years older than Reagan was when the Ds said he was to old to serve in 1984.

should tell you all you need to know right there....

the president is elected by the people to represent the people. That is the "people" of the US not UK, France, Germany, Ect.

whether ally or enemy, the US is in competition with all other countries for jobs, trade, world strength

From Biden’s perspective, this is actually a problem of sorts. The current Dem electorate is not overly-concerned about foreign affairs, as compared to domestic policy.

Dem and GOP foreign policy experts could get together and announce unanimously that Biden is the ONLY Dem candidate who is even remotely qualified to serve as POTUS from a foreign affairs perspective, and the response from Dem primary voters would be a giant “meh.”

In other words, Biden’s greatest strength lies in an area that Dems simply do not see as being important.

Too bad he's running for President of the United States and not President of the World.

I would suggest a special council to look into possible influence of foreign agents in a US presidential campaign. Including wire taps and agents inside the campaign itself.
Who could argue
