I like being able to choose which men I'm alone with. I don't like being around men I don't know.

I'll even avoid elevators with only 1 man.

“What uber? Isn’t that just like an internet taxi?”

No one is saying heterosexual men can't be allowed to be alone with women

However, as a woman I choose to stay away from situations where I am alone with a man I don't know.

Do you choose to stay away from heterosexual men you don't know who you are sexually attracted to or is it just heterosexual men you are not sexually attracted to?

It's in single heterosexual men's nature to be able to choose which women they are alone with. They like being around women they don't know.

They'll even go in elevators with only 1 woman in it.

It's human nature for a heterosexual man who is single to want to do that.

What do you want to do, deny human nature?

What planet are you living on?

There have always been taxi service in small cities and towns as long as I can remember and women have always been using taxis to avoid having to ride on public buses so they wouldn't have to deal with heterosexual men trying to pick them up.

No, they aren’t. They can still drive for uber. They’re independent contractors that are chosen or not chosen based on a customer’s preference. Why do you hate the free market?

Men can still drive for Uber but they can no longer drive for a large percentage of Uber customers anymore because of this policy which means they make less money.

Why are you against men making more money?

Women can now request a woman driver from Uber. I don't know the exact statistics but I'm certain more women use Uber than men. That means Uber is allowing the men who drive Ubers to be discriminated against by women just because they are men. I think Uber should be sued for allowing this discrimination against men to occur. What do you think?

As a customer I should be able to choose who I want to be served by period.

For their safety if they so choose. I am happy with this as a father and husband.

A man doesn’t have a ‘right’ to my money especially if I can decide who I am willing to pay.

People are weird. I’ve only ever taken uber with my husband while are traveling - and on some of those rides I was glad I wasn’t alone.

If repairs are done to the house - we schedule them when my husband or older sons are home because some men are just down right creepy.

I’m glad you’ve never been put in an uncomfortable or weird situation where you have to think twice before you make a decision about something.

A man has a right to earn a living without being discriminated against just because he is an heterosexual man.

However, you are free to be a sexist and spend your money by hiring a woman to do a job for you just because she is a woman.

Your husband should never let you travel anywhere alone if possible. It's a dangerous world out there for both men and women.

You should NEVER allow anyone into your home when you are there alone for any reason unless you know them very very well.

I know you are just being sarcastic but I'll give you a couple of examples when I had to make a quick decision.

One time when I was about 8 years old my twin brother and I had to go to the local store to get some groceries for our mother. When we walked out of the store we both noticed two strange looking men standing across the street next to their old black car that was parked in a location where locals never parked. They both had olive colored skin and both were dressed all in black and wearing black hats. One man was very heavy and the other man was thin.

When we crossed the street to go back home the fat man came up to me and grabbed my left arm just above my elbow very tightly. I had recently been taught by my boy scout leader how to break someone's grip by rolling your arm in the direction of the person's thumb. I did that and the fat man was forced to let go of my arm. The next thing that happened was the fat man said he just wanted to know where the local movie theater was and after I gave him the directions he invited my brother and me to go with them and they would pay for our tickets then bring us back home after the movie was over. Fortunately, my brother and I said no because we had to bring our groceries to our mother. Then my brother and I walked away but when we got around a corner we looked back and heard the men talking with each other. The fat man said to the thin man that they better go back in their car and go after us. As soon as we heard that my brother and I started running as fast as we could. We were on a street that was straight for about a quarter of a mile so we knew if they came after us they might be able to catch up with us and grab us. When we got about 100 yards down the street I looked back and sure enough their car was coming down the street catching up to us. We kept running as fast as we could and made it to where our street intersected with the street we were running down. We turned right onto our street but our house was still far away about half way down the street. When we got a few houses from our house we noticed our mother was standing on the front steps. We ran up to her screaming that some men were trying to kidnap us and for her to call the police. She didn't believe us but just then the men's car turned onto our street and was slowly heading out way. We yelled to our mom " There they are now in their car heading this way!" and pointed to them. As we stood on our front steps the men drove their car slowly past our house glaring at us as they passed. They continued to drive slowly down our street then turned right and that was the last time we saw them. We told our mom to call the police because we were afraid they would try to kidnap another kid but our mom refused to call the police because she thought we were making the entire thing up and they were just two men driving down our street.

Another time when I was about 16 years old I used to hitchhike to my high school because it was 4 miles away and my mother didn't drive a car. I had been told by some of my friends who also hitchhiked to be careful because a homosexual man occasionally picked up young boys who were hitchhiking and would kidnap them then take them into the woods and sexually assault them. One day I got picked up by a young guy with blonde
hair. When he turned the car onto a road that I knew was where the homosexual guy would take kids which was not in the direction of my high school I knew right away I was in big trouble. He was driving too fast for me to jump out of the car so when he suggested that we go into the woods and have some fun I pretended I was willing to do that. When he slowed down the car to stop about halfway down the road in the middle of the woods I wasted no time and jumped out of the car and began running as fast as I could through the woods. I never looked back because I was afraid he was right behind me and would catch me if I slowed down at all. I kept running as fast as I could through the woods then eventually came out of the woods back onto the main road and I continued to run all the way back to my home. Fortunately, I was a good runner and he never was able to catch up to me. That was the last time I ever hitchhiked on that road.

Those are just two times I had to make an uncomfortable decision in order to save my life.

So I am glad you are wary of men who are strangers but you should not be paranoid about all heterosexual men who are just trying to earn an honest living.

II simply can't image being opposed to this, in theory. if you think it's technically illegal, that's another thing.

I want America to be a country where young hot chicks can walk home (drunk) from a night out in a big city without any sort of fear. We don't have that at the moment. I think the idea that women would prefer to be given a ride by female stranger as opposed to a male stranger is completely reasonable.

It's reasonable for hot young women to want that but it is just as reasonable for young men to want to earn an honest living so they can afford to take out hot young women hoping one of them may end up in a relationship with them.

You realize that statistically, men use ride shares more often than women, right?

Like I posted above, I'm all for freedom of association, and I think you should be too. I think as long as we're talking about private citizens/companies, hiring, serving, being on the board, being in management/leadership positions, pretty much any decision you can imagine should be between the employer, employee, and (according to the policy set by the company) the customers.

In my opinion, if someone wants to start a company that only employs women and tells men thanks but no thanks, they should be able to do it. If someone starts a company and decides that the'll hire white people for the entry level, menial tasks, but all management and C-Suite jobs will always be held by black people, they should be able to do it. If I own a hotel and decide that I don't want "cultcha" in it and decide to serve Asian people only because they make the least noise, I should be free to do that. If I own a bakery and don't want to serve black people, or midgets, or women, or people over 65, or people named Frank, or people over a certain weight, or WHATEVER I decide, it's my company and I should be free to make just about decision I want regarding it as long as it is (otherwise) legal.

There might be some exceptions that I would agree to, but the reason the laws that you are appealing to were created in the first place is because certain minorities were sufficiently locked out of being able to compete if there weren't enough opportunities for them to organically find a place.

But that's no longer the case.

Back then if most hotel owners, for example, were white, and they all decided to allow other white people only in their hotels, other races didn't have any recourse. They couldn't go to a bank and get a loan to start their own minority hotel. Not enough of them to ensure adequate alternatives, anyway.

But today, they can.

Society would be so much better off at this point if people were allowed to freely associate and decide who they wanted to do business with, who they wanted to hire, who they wanted to be around, etc., etc., but instead, we've bought into "diversity is our strength," no matter how obvious it is that that is not true. (Diversity can be a strength, but only if the priority association is with a common denominator).

So I don't think men have any right as an independent contractor to dictate Uber policy. If they don't like it, they can choose to not contract with Uber. They can create their own app and launch it to compete with Uber if they want to.

Has there been many (any) incidents of male Uber drivers raping or SA-ing female passengers?

I’m much more familiar with female riders making false allegations of SA by the drivers.
