Well, I give her credit for putting her child in there to back up her beliefs. I think she’s a complete and total idiot in her beliefs, but at least she lived them.

Cubs, Nikole Hannah-Jones is an educated moron. She is a selfishly egocentric imbecile with a degree. The woman is devoid of any ability to conduct critical reasoning. Literally.

E.g., She and her husband traveled to Ghana several years ago. They raved about how wonderful it was to not be singled out on the streets, and not be denied "access" because of skin color. Ghana was presented as a lovely Shangri-La for Black people, and the virtual antithesis of its American cohort. Of course Black American MHH income (the highest in the world) factually exceeds that of Ghana by 80-100x.

Meanwhile, the Hannah-Jones's are multimillionaires. She grew up attending majority white schools, followed by NotreDame and UNC. He enjoys access and privilege at levels the average Ghanan could not even imagine, much less attain.

Their ability to conjure up a world diametrically opposite to those facts, and present that fiction as the "real" world, manifests in everything that they do. Instead of forming a hypothesis and testing/questioning it, they come to a conclusion and try to assemble facts to support it. Scientific method versus Critical theory.

Which brings us roundabout to the comparison you drew with your kids schooling versus that of Hannah-Jones. The school Hannah-Jones singled out for her daughter to attend was just 56% Black. That wasn't the rationale for the choice to send her daughter there. The rationale was, the school was underperforming. That, rather than racial make-up, is the equation in this instance!

You and I often talk about the advantages of school choice. Given the choice that Hannah-Jones had, would you ever electively choose to send your children to a horribly underperforming school? Further, if you elected to conduct such an experiment with your child/children, would you allow them to proceed 10 years without having a clue as to how woefully far behind they were as a result of your choice.

In this instance, the daughter thought she "loved" math because she was so "good" at it. The catch is she was never given homework, and answers on tests were never assessed. The teachers did not bother. So the girl thought she was a mathematics savant, while in fact, she was slipping substantially below grade level in competency. How parents could continue down that path for years, claiming to be "unaware," is something neither you nor I can begin to comprehend.

So, no, I don't believe there is any comparison at all between the situation of your children's schooling and that of Hannah-Jones.

The answer here is that her values aren't shared in low-end socio-economic schools like that. Blacks aren't monolithic, despite what she desperately tried to prove.

This reminds me of a lesser version of John Money's experiments with David Reimer in an attempt to prove "gender is a social construct" and it ended with Reimer's brother OD'ing and Reimer killing himself.
