It’s New Orleans, of course the child is in the minority. As far as interactions southern schools as well as adult ls have long interacted with each other. The ones that haven’t are generally the ones that show the racism side and those aren’t necessarily the white ones. POC ( the ones other than white since white is a color too) have the highest percentage of racial biases, and generally happy to provide that perspective when a discussion ensues at public meetings, festivals, in a store, parking lots or streets, or any other gathering space.

I went to private school through 8th grade, then because of the oil crash in the 80’s I ended up in public high school with no magnet program yet.
High school was easy. I clearly remember being assigned a book in English 3 that I read in 8th grade and laughing about it to my friends.
There are some good public high schools in Shreveport but only if you get in the magnet program.

I also tried an educational experiment with my daughter. I taught her basic addition and subtraction, with flash cards, at 5 years old. I taught her the multiplication tables at 6. I read to her from the time she was an infant. I would read the same book 100 times if she asked to go through it again. She began reading at 3 years old. She began reading on her own a year later.
We familiarized her with what was coming up in the next school year. She was already comfortable with whatever the teachers presented. She was the Valedictorian and is a ChemE.
My experiment served my child better than trying to force her to be raised by wolves and orcs.

I can't imagine sacrificing your child's education for political points. It is the antithesis of parenting.
