Elon Musk claims there are 150-year-olds on Social Security
Musk, who has been given significant flexibility by President Trump to reduce government spending through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), spoke at a press conference on Tuesday.
Musk makes claims about Social Security
"If money is spent badly. If your taxpayer dollars are not spent in a sensible and frugal manner, then that's not okay. Your tax dollars need to be spent wisely on the things that matter to the people," Musk said.
"It’s just common sense. It's not Draconian or radical. I think it's really just saying let's look at each of the expenditures and say, is this actually in the best interest of the people, and if it is, it's approved, if it's not, we should think about it," he added.
"There's crazy things, like, just a cursory examination of Social Security and we've got people in there that are about 150 years old," Musk said. "Now, do you know anyone that's 150? I don't. OK. They should be on the Guinness Book of World Records, they're missing out."
"So, you know, that's the case where, like, I think they're probably dead is my guess, or they should be very famous. One of the two," he added.
Can you read? You just posted evidence proving WIRED and you wrong as he certainly didnt say what you claim he said. Here is what his tweet says:
"According to the Social Security database, these are the numbers of people in each age bucket with the death field set to FALSE!"

I don't think Musk said there ARE 150 yr olds getting paid SS
Hell, Eurocat provided the quote for us and didn't even realize it:

Is SS budgeting based on the number of participants? If so, even those not receiving a check can bloat the budget. It’s just another pool of money to siphon off of, or worse.

Elon said that there would be mistakes, that they would be corrected.
This plan is to move fast and break things.
Waste and fraud will fall out. What is legitimate will be restored.
It's the only way to do it in less than 2 years.

. I would be shocked if date data with no century exists anywhere in their systems.

I didn't read the article...I just know how the left takes things and makes them "facts".

There is still a problem if there are 150 year old's with active SSN's, even if they are not receiving a monthly check (voting).

I don't read 'WIRED'. WIred has proven over the years to be a mouthpiece for Democrats. Up is down, left is right.
I don't need to read it to know the article is BS.
This is the world the leftist media made, enjoy it.

if you were coding pre the late 90s, you might have done year comparisons without century.
Adding century to logic everywhere was part of the year 2000 upgrades every large entity went through. Feds spent millions upon millions on this. I know. My former company had massive contracts to help with it.
I want to believe that century exists everywhere in the data, and any tools that DOGE would use would use would not leave century off of a data comparison.
Like I said, it's POSSIBLE.

ETA: Sorry I misread your first post. I thought you were saying that you believed the date data exists when you actually meant 4 digit year data. Yes it does and as you pointed out, it's been 4 digit everywhere for 25 years

This ignorant statement is exactly why we're not gonna let people like you be in charge of anything, ever again.

A unique entity is an unique entity regardless of storage and language used to sift it. Just the fact that there are massive numbers of non-unique SSNs indicates serious issues that need to be addressed.

I get everything you're saying. i have been around since the VSAM days, too. I remember 2 byte "year" storage and logic, COBOL and otherwise. I sweated blood in the late 90s on this. Made a lot of bank on it. This was headline news stuff, remember? Folks were terrified the world would come crashing down over it.
It would blow my mind if Social Security Admin missed century on DOB anywhere, but shite happens.

It’s gotten so common now many people don’t even notice but when the media feels the need to prove an impossibility like “no fraud is being committed in the government and here’s why” then that is a sure sign you are being fed propaganda.
Back in the good ole days it would have been the media that was running stories like the ones being disclosed by DOGE, now they are the ones running cover.
Hey OP thanks for reminding us how shitty our media is.
