Slowest thing about it was waiting on FEMA to be ready to operate and FEMA insisting that every load be inspected for things in a pile other than brush.
Yes. They set up monitors on towers to inspect loads and give load receipts.
It's how the subcontractors get paid.
Mickey doesn't know what he's talking about.

There is a reason Biden/Harris is dragging their feet. Someone has done the calculation of counties impacted and gambled that doing as little as possible to help the recovery is a net advantage at the polls.
That, but more likely there is a war going on the get the cleanup contracts.
There is a fortune to be made cleaning this disaster up and companies are maneuvering to get the contracts. It bogs the whole process down. It's really sickening if you ever witness the process.

Somebody had a post yesterday about the spread of votes in NC which showed that if the areas hit can't vote, Trump may be screwed
So again, Dems doing what they accuse the other side only it's not a simple to obtain ID card, but instead, making it to where a natural disaster makes tons of people not able to vote. Oh the irony of calling others fascists!
Democracy hanging in the balance indeed!

Part of me wonders if the fed will drag their feet purposely to make it harder for folks to vote in the afflicted areas. If I'm not mistaken most of the areas hit were in rural communities that lean right

Oh they shouldn’t be prohibited from voting. But .. how do you get ballots to them? How do you verify voter rolls (idk where the state capitol is with SOS office) .. how do you verify the deceased not voting.
No sane person thinks they shouldn’t vote .. for me it’s how do you work out the logistics when food and water and shelter are paramount?

Within their budget. Anything beyond that they get reimbursed if they are in a declared disaster zone. FEMA takes control of that.
Yes, they get reimbursed after the fact. That was my point. The cleanup doesn't wait on FEMA.

States and municipalities should gear up and deal with disasters without having to wait for fedgov wealth redistribution..

I'll give it to the Dems on one thing. If this were the opposite, the Dems would be out doing whatever they could to make sure these people voted via mail-in or whatever. They would have people delivering/collecting mail-in votes if necessary and we'd all be bitching about it.
Why don't the Republicans stop complaining about this and do whatever it takes to make sure the Patriots in that area get to vote?

This isn't a story that's going away in a few days
our former president\current presidential candidate was shot at.........twice..........in the last couple of months........and outside of this forum you wont hear a peep about it. i hope this NC story catches fire, but like anything they want to disappear, this likely will too.

90% of federal programs should occur at the state level. Move the higher taxation and the services to the states and minimize federal taxes/services. That's the way it was always meant to be, but never will be again.
The beauty of that is we would have even more extreme differences between states and if you don't like it where you live, you move elsewhere.

Not by their definition. Their October surprise is something they pre-planned but are surprising their opponents with. This was an actual surprise to everyone.

I don't disagree, however, FEMA should be fully funded before we send a dime to another country and when something this big happens it should be a joint effort and there should be a timely response.
