Will Canada actually allow Alberta to leave?

I don't think Canada will agree to it. I'm pulling for Alberta, though. Fox news link: LINK

I just saw that fox article and was wondering the same thing
It has to be a gut punch to require 177k signature and get 300k.
They may never let them leave, but we can keep watching.

Not a chance, even though they should. We don't have any room to judge though. Yankees destroyed any ability to peacefully secede because none of them can mind their own fricking business.

Alberta is the cash cow that fuels all the socialist spending in the east.
No way they let their cash cow out of the stall.

Wonder if they’d accept a Major League Baseball type trade?
We take Alberta. In exchange they get Portland and Minneapolis. We can even toss in a “player to be named later”…Seattle, maybe?

Sounds very, very reminiscent of our southern states in 1860.

No, but they don’t have a leg to stand on considering Quebec has had multiple secession referendums.

No. Will never happen.

Without Alberta, Canada completely collapses. The revenue from Alberta pays the bribes to Quebec to keep them from going independent. If Quebec secedes, Ontario loses its access to the Sea via the St. Lawrence seaway. Ontario would also be completely cut off from both the Maritimes and British Columbia.
The union of Canada collapses both politically and fiscally in short order without Alberta. As such, Ottawa will never grant secession.

And how exactly can the rest of Canada stop them?
Strongly worded letters? Laws and crap are just scribbles on paper. If everyone disagrees then side 1 has to stop side 2. The British did not let us secede, yet here we are.

Then, much like the BR and St George situation, Ottawa needs to stop fricking Alberta nearly so much if they need them that badly.

Militarily I suppose. If diplomatic efforts fail that is.

Stop it, you're turning me on.

Hopefully they secede and then the Edmonton Oilers win the Stanley Cup and Canada can't claim it.

Good, so you are saying Canada would have absolutely no way to prevent this.

If we fully arm the rebel Albertans, Canada doesn't stand a chance.

But Alberta knows this as well and is sick of subsidizing leftists to support a woke nation.
This is how secession occurs and borders have changed throughout mankind.
The same folks saying no way said the same for St George and likely would have said not to write a Declaration of Independence in 1776.
