Why would servers and bartenders and gig economy workers get a different set of tax rules from the rest of us?

Will bonuses be counted as tips moving forward?

It's a vote buying scheme and in particular it was a vote buying scheme to try to tip the scales in Nevada.

Generally because they have a low hourly rate in the service industry. The other argument is that people outside of that industry don’t usually claim tips. I really don’t care either way on this one.

Pretty sure it’s not a scheme and is currently in place? Republicans should get the vote from every single person getting to take advantage of this!

Perhaps, but by this logic any policy which is favorable to a portion of the voting populace is a “vote buying scheme”.

Usually they get less than minimum wage. It’s been 30 years since I worked for tips so maybe it’s changed but it used to be waiters, ect, could be paid less than minimum wage since they had supplemental income via tips.

Sure

You could argue that this one was more effective because of scale. The wealthy and corporations can already tip the scales in their favor with campaign donations and lobbying. Tipped workers were a relatively powerless group that is pretty easy to swing with a simple carrot like this.

No, because then all policies should be seen as a "vote buying scheme". You just have to attack President Trump. It's what you leftists do.

The better question than should be, if democrats really cared about putting more money in the pockets of their constituents, and assuming these Nevada workers already are Dem voters, which your point does, than why didn’t democrats already pass such a carve out for tipped workers?

Dumb. The code is over 6000 pages. Which sections of code are vote buying and which are not?

I can't stand it. Picking favorites is bullshite. Why tax overtime if you're not going to tax tips?

A gig job or serving and bartending has never been considered stable, long term employment and it shouldn't be treated that way now.
