Why should I care what happens to Taiwan?

One of the anti-war left journalists who has been doing a good job on Ukraine (Caitlin Johnstone) said something recently like, you populist right guys opposing conflict in Ukraine better not cheerlead a war against China. It did make me think twice because I hate China and wouldn't mind seeing them smacked, but we probably need to stay consistent on these things.

Imagine a world where a Communist regime controls the production of the majority of the world's computer chips. This is a "what could possibly go wrong" scenario.

The US doesn't want this or North Korea resolved. If it was then Japan wouldn't have a reason to pay and maintain our military there
