Back in the day, all immigrants were welcome because we had a continent to populate. HOWEVER, they came and took care of themselves. If they needed assistance they were expected to have sponsors who tended to their needs until they could assimilate.
And assimilation was the key - they wanted to become AMERICANs. Of course they preserved their cultural heritage but it was secondary to their new identification as part of the American Experiment. Historical heritage was proudly secondary.
Today, we have masses of people coming here just to soak up our bloated welfare give-aways. We also have too many coming here for criminal purpose. For every 'next entrepreneural wizard' the DEMs and MSM constantly brag about, there are thousands of dregs whose only 'accomplishment' is to provide the DEMs with illegal voting and undue pressure on our societal support structure.

Because the Scandinavians are white and know how to speak the second greatest white language (behind Deutsch of course). ????
