If 100k African Americans were moved into Vermont it would flow red like blood the next election. Like others have said, they live in a bubble. The liberals in the northeast are some of the most racist, elitist, bigots in this country.

They were settled by different European peoples. The Dakotas are predominantly German and Scandinavian for example. Maine was settled by the English and the French.
Local culture is still defined by where these people came from in Europe.

IMO, It's because so much of the population is centered around the Burlington area. The rural people are probably right leaning, but the rural population is pretty small. I've driven through a few times on I-89 and there are miles and miles of nothing.

Because compared to say, Louisiana, Vermont is a fricking utopia. Ditto for New Hampshire and Maine. Progressivism is easy to fall into because it makes them feel good and they will never deal with the repercussions of it simply due to their unshakeable demographics.

I’ve been arguing for this for a year around here. Start a “charity” that buses 50K illegals to each VT and NH, and let those assholes experience the politics their congressional delegations enable, Nothing makes you come correct about the border like 2,000 students in a high school designed for 1,000, half of them not speaking English.
Biden and other “charities” are busing these people all over the Midwest. Hard to understand how the Right isn’t even in the game.

Not certain that it correlates but about 40% of Vermont's population does not hold an actual religious belief or view... Also, I believe it is Vermont that has the highest population of "witches" in the country per capita...
