Someone explain the $7 million cost to me?
Seems that there is a lot of confusion about if this cost was for the pick statue, the traveling art show, or is it for a big group of permanent art installations?
I think it’s all very stupid, but I heard the pick isn’t a permanent deal:

New Orleans will destroy itself. There is a group of people who believe they are being left out, but in reality they are unqualified to run anything, particularly government. And there are examples in every dim city to prove this fact. Not to mention shithole countries around the world.

In a lot of ways, it's sort of perfectly fitting that they decided to plop this thing down right in front of the classic beautiful old city hall that was built when New Orleans was the third largest city in the nation and considered a great economic powerhouse, vital to its prosperity and function.

The juxtaposition says pretty much everything.

A statue of a "Cool Menthol Filtered" cigarette should have been erected.

You are mistaken. It is a delicate balancing act, like all big cities. The Dems want enough Republicans to pay 95% of the taxes, while still constituting less than 50% of the vote.

Yes, throw in a Old English 40 and watermelon and it would be complete.

So have we gotten an art appraisal for this Afro-pick of justice. My brother was down there not long ago and he said it’s made of the cheapest sheet metal he’s seen. So what’s the valuation, $300? $400?
