Because no matter how much you cry, it's never someone's "turn" to be POTUS.

Yep. Which begs the question of why he's even running, let alone continuing to show his face in public?

quote:

President Donald Trump told supporters Saturday night that he will never speak to them again if he loses the election in November.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Fayetteville, North Carolina, Trump railed against rival Joe Biden, calling him "the worst candidate in the history of presidential politics."

"If I lose to him, I don't know what I'm going to do. I will never speak to you again," Trump told the attendees at the rally. "You'll never see me again."

Maybe he should have asked himself.

Better yet, he should have listened to himself when he said in 2020 if he lost to Biden, he would not run again.

But a huge chance in the primary so your point makes no sense.

Primaries are not the greatest indicators of who the best General Election candidate is. For example, Kimberly Yee, the Arizona State Treasurer, filed to run for Governor in 2022. Kari Lake was beating her 4-1 in multiple polls and she dropped out to run for re-election as State Treasurer. She won by over 11 points and 280K votes on the same ballot that Kari Lake lost. Yee was a superior General Election candidate and she would've destroyed Katie Hobbs. In Pennsylvania, David McCormick performed better than Oz in a head-to-head matchup with John Fetterman. Oz won the nomination and barely cracked 46%. McCormick would've gotten a higher percentage of the vote and possibly would have won the General Election.

Maybe he hates what the country has gone through over the past 8 years with massive overspending, and wants to return to fiscal sanity

will admit that Desantis may have been a bit naive. He likely had a lot more faith in the general republican electorate

Thanks for admitting defeat this early on brother

I have said repeatedly that if I was placing money on it, I would place money on Trump to win. He was the President and has vast name recognition.

Because the uniparty will do anything to oppose Trump.

Because he's taken up the mantle as the anti-Trump.

It's a massive mistake and essentially will end his political career, but it's not like he can say nobody told him so.

The saddest thing about it is that he could have had it all if he'd have just gotten on board. Now his campaign must be absolutely destroyed. And just when he thinks the smoke is cleared in '28, the MAGA-ites will again be waiting.

He has? If so, he was given that mantle by Trump himself

Why do Trump supporters think that DeSantis losing the primary in 2024 means he has no chance in 2028? The runner-up frequently goes on to win the next primary because they built a national campaign apparatus during the loss.

That was probably the case back in olden times a few years ago when the general rule of thumb was likely that people end up voting for party at the end of the day. But as you’ve noticed there is no longer one Republican party.

Ron was in an incredibly secure position as one of the best governors in the country, and at his age could have easily waited until 2028 when he'd be a crystal clear frontrunner.
There's always a new kid in town. Christie had a shot in 2012. He was a hot name. He probably could have beaten Romney for the nomination. He chose not to go. Obama was in a virtually identical situation in '08. He went for it.

DeSantis is running because he thinks he can win. The way Trump is running, I'm not sure DeSantis doesn't have a path.

Trump is polling vastly better than DeSantis. I'm not one to believe in "turns" but you have to realize that you're putting yourself in an extremely uphill battle when you could have a clear path next time around.

This has nothing to do with turns and this is disingenuous. Anyone with semblance of common sense could see that Trump would be the overwhelming favorite as a nominee this time around, and the field is wide open in 2028 where DeSantis would be hugely favored.

So why spend the time and money to likely lose in the primary when you could take a much clearer path to victory in four yers?
