Nothing to see here.

quote:

A plumber went to Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church in Houston to remove a loose toilet but instead found envelopes stuffed with cash and checks inside the wall — seven years after $600,000 was stolen from the church safe, according to KRPC Channel 2.

quote:

“There was a loose toilet in the wall, and we removed the tile,” the caller told Lindsey. “We went to go remove the toilet, and I moved some insulation away and about 500 envelopes fell out of the wall, and I was like ‘Oh wow!’”

Holy smokes! I remember when that theft occurred and they were looking for a culprit.

So I'm confused about this story. They don't say this is where the money is from that theft case, and there's no way that 400 envelopes contained $600k

The real question is "Why aren't YOU (and everyone else) stashing cash?!"

Stashing cash is always a good plan. Stashing checks, not so much.

You watch too many movies. Imagine 10 $100 dollar bills stacked. You could easily place two of those stacks in the envelope. In that case, you would have $600,000 in only 300 envelopes.

Other reports indicate it was a little cash but mostly checks.

I'm guessing HPD can compare the total they found vs the total originally reported missing.

Ok, but did I miss that they said this was the missing cash?

So how would thieves get it into the wall, and why didn't they ever go back to get the cash?

Trying to figure this out...

600K was reported as stolen in 2014. Joel got the money recooped via insurance. So was he/someone in his Church planning on waiting to get the cash from the bathroom wall and burn the checks?
quote:

Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas, was robbed of more than half a million dollars Sunday.

Authorities say $600,000 in cash, checks and credit card donations were discovered missing and presumed stolen sometime between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning.

KRIV reports all $600,000 in donations were collected during church services Saturday and Sunday and then placed in a safe. But online donations are safe - the theft did not include any online data breaches.

According to Lakewood Church, the money lost in the theft is insured but the bigger problem might come from churchgoers who donated with their credit card information.

He's a heretic on top of being an ordinary sinner like the rest of us, so yeah, that makes sense.

It could be that he's got a legitimate reason for storing that much cash, but I'm curious to see what's up with that.

I've sent that pic to an actual Joel attendee. The response was that God blessed him with the money. That's what his followers believe.

Anyone who gives a dime to that scumbag (or any “prosperity gospel” preacher is an absolute moron.
