Why does the left hate Putin?

Honestly curious? Sure he is a bad guy and a dictator, but the world is filled with bad guys and dictators they are perfectly fine doing business with (see Iran, China, Venezuela, Saudia Arabia, Canada)
What specifically about Putin makes them melt so hard. I know there is more there than they are willing to admit, but what is it?
FYI, I have no dog in the fight either way, not Pro Putin. There are enough dictators here in America to deal with before I need to worry about Putin.

Russiagate was about domestic politics: concocting an idiotic conspiracy theory (for which Mueller found no proof) to allow the US security state to sabotage Trump.
But it was also a geopolitical project: convince millions of Americans to hate Russia, view it as a grave threat.

The primary critique of the 5-year-long Russiagate hysteria wasn't that it was driven by laughably stupid conspiracies about Putin controlling the US through blackmail (though it was).
The deeper concern: it was fostering a McCarthyite climate, destroying US/Russia dialogue.

I feel like remarking on this is just basically "I noticed someone who is not aligned with the centrist consensus"
Which I mean, the centrist consensus in this country sucks arse. Sometimes people take it too far and end up damage controlling for foreigners doing abhorrent things.
