We are a mostly rural state with just under 2 million in population but our gov has to blow money to visit Israel for over a week.

And a lot of states do this shite. I dont get it.

I would bet it’s on Israel’s dime. They are all in buying American political influence. There isn’t going to be any meaningful trade with Israel but this guy may get a bigger political job and they want a pro-Israel vote.

Probably because he has national ambitions and that is how he can get the AIPAC support.

He might become Senator from Nebraska, he might run for President one day, he might get a big job in an Administration?

Get it? Israel is making an investment in making him a friend.

Israel has to import almost everything, including base agricultural products like corn and wheat. So yeah, 7 or 8 business class seats to try to convince IL to lower tariffs and trade restrictions on agricultural goods in an ag state makes some sense. It's not like the mayor of LA going off to Africa, with a per capita spending power of a meal at Jack in the Box.

If OP is worried about the state budget, look at education and health. All your frustrations are there, and they're not related to Joooos.

What deals did they negotiate as far as trade?

If it’s just a trade visit im sure they can point to some contracts, right?

Republican go to Israel and Dems go to climate change conference.

One is worse than the other.

Why do we have to chose either?

Why can’t we just chose to not let anyone influence our politics domestically or drive us to defend them in a region that provides us virtually nothing but conflict and drama?

And if we are picking, why are we picking against the side with all the oil when we could just remain neutral and maximize our outcomes while minimizing our expenditures?

I don't get it either. It's weird and mildly uncomfortable.
