This is good fodder for good CT epistemic practice. If the Dems and the courts can't substantiate it in the Biden administration we should all reduce our likelihood that conspiracies occurred.
Same goes for Spygate, Qanon, etc. If time doesn't bear them out, you should toss them, unless of course, we're talking about phenomena that are more like religious subcultures than simple beliefs (which of course we are with Qanon - it would have a crisis with Trump leaving office, but doomsday cults survive the end of the world not coming. The ideology adapts).

One question. Why does the govt release classified documents decades after an event if at all? Why so much secrecy? National security?

Like the truth about how the president had actionable intelligence that Pearl Harbor was about to be attacked and even congregated all the ships (despite warnings from the commander there) on the west side of the harbor to encourage the Japanese. They then put all the blame on that commander when they wanted an attack to get support to enter the war. This is all out in the open now.
Same thing happened with stocking up the Lusitania with war ammunition. They were hoping for an attack by the Germans and got it. Or the fact that we ignored like 12 countries that had actionable intelligence before 9/11 that an attack by air was imminent, yet all of our jets were on training missions (and our intelligence was better than anybody). The jets got to Payne Stewart's plane in about 5 minutes when it drifted off course. Good thing they got rid of all the evidence quickly and had a sham investigation. Maybe the lies about Saddam's WOMD, or the fact that they completely made up the Gulf of Tonkin to enter the Vietnam War. Blowing up the Maine to have reason to go after the Spanish all for the sugar cash crop.

Operation Mockingbird is still happening and it couldn't be more transparent. It's just being done by big players in the democratic party who have major ties to the 6 people who own all of it now.
