But they weren't blowing it at bars and clubs just so they could pose for pictures on social media to show the world how much money they temporarily have. Meanwhile their savings are at $0, credit cards maxed out, very likely tens of thousands in debt, and have no plan for retirement.

I'm a harsh critic of my generations spending habits - the ridiculous lengths we go through to flex on social media is dumb. I used to be that guy as well but I cut out the booze and other frivolous spending and have pumped money into my retirement accounts and personal savings while getting debt free. Some might say my life is boring because I don't go out much, but I'm also the one whose phone isn't getting blown up by banks and debt collectors.

And why do people assume that it's the poor frequently indulging in this stuff? Because for the most part it isn't the poor. Upper middle class people are the ones buying all this stuff then some retards use those purchases as an excuse to demean people that don't regularly buy these luxuries in the first place.

Plus the alcohol expense you mention was for almost all "boomers" not a daily purchase.

Whenever there is a long-term disagreement in the public space about an issue there is an emblematic example. For decades they debated whether IQ tests were racist. At least 400 times I read that “Regatta” was a vocabulary word on an IQ test that blacks were less likely to know due to social conditions rather than IQ. And this remained true 20 years after “Regatta” was scrubbed from the last IQ test.

The $400 hammer was the emblem of MIC waste; Willie Horton, of black recidivism, etc.

Because a $6 coffee a day is over $2000 a year you knucklehead.

Working with HUD housing for the last 20 years has taught me one thing more than anything else….. people blow their money on frivolous things and blame everyone and everything else for their financial failures. They simply don’t understand the money in/ money out concept.
