Same reason Nike pays athletes untold millions to endorse their products. People are influenced by athletes.

Why does anyone place so much value on what a famous person says? Conservatives do the same with preachers, fox news opinion hosts, trump family members, ect.

Did you ever hear about them respecting the opinion of Charlton Heston? How about Schwarzenegger - he was governor, surely that got him some respect. Ok, President Reagan. No? See a pattern?

Actually that works both ways, conservatives get upset by the very things athletes and celebrities say/do that the left supports.
Both sides tend to be a little hypocritical on the matter. For example, many of us love when James Woods tweets about liberals, but we get offended when Madonna tweets liberal political bs.

Because they evaluate life based on how much money you have and how famous you are. Those are probably the 2 most consistent traits among leftist "heroes".
Of course the left claims this is all there is to Donald Trump...and they're correct for the most part but it's because their consistent use of manipulating the masses through celebrities has brought the public discourse to a point where a Trump type person was necessary to even have a chance at leveling the playing field.
The dems have no ability whatsoever to look into the mirror and realize their underhanded manipulative tactics through the media, celebrities, and universities are not just scary and dishonest, but their tactics are ruining this country.
What's sad is they seem utterly incapable now more than ever at realizing what they've become.

Because Celebs and athletes are great pitchmen without really understanding the true underlying substance of the issue. Thus the blind pitch the blind and they all fall in line.

Because it's more a popularity contest to them than it is about what can actually help the people they're serving. I mean, the left throws out Jay-Z and Scott Baio as key celebrities on opposing sides. Most voters under 30 wouldn't be able to tell the difference between Scott Baio and their mail carrier, but they sure know who Jay-Z is.
