most Americans, by far, will choose cheap over better. Look at airlines now and what they have become as a result of this way of thinking.

Laborers in Honduras make approximately $20 per day. They are making 10x that in the US. Laborers in the US would bust their arse for $2k a day too

It’s still being done but look into the regulations on that and you’ll quickly see that it’s more trouble than it’s worth for just about all but the large national builders.
Also, through the legal visa work program, it’s fairly easy to “duck out the back” and become “illegal”.

Lower bids, quality, and how long it will take for the project to be finished.
My dad built a 4500 sq ft shop few years ago. My cousins crew poured the floor. A few months later my dad took bids for the shop. A Russian crew had the cheapest bid and a faster time frame when it would be finished. Their bid time was 7 days. The local, Mennonite, and Hispanic crews bids were at least 45 days out and more expensive. The Russians finished framing the shop in 3 days. They subcontracted the Mennonites to put the metal sides and roof on and that took 2 days. They came back the next day and finished the doors, walls, hooked up the water, and finished the electric. The shop was completely done in 6 days.
The Russian foreman came back 3 times in the next year to inspect the building and make sure everything was good.
The local crews bid was about double and would have taken 3 more months. They would have subcontracted the metal roof, water, and electric. The American crews quality could not have been better and they would not have guaranteed their work.
Russians bought the extra material, a car, an old broke down tractor, an old skid steer, a side by side, a fridge, 2 old bikes, and clothes that didn’t sell from a yard sale. My dad didn’t plan on selling most of the stuff, but they bundled it together and offered more than it was worth. They have all kinds of businesses not just construction. They call my dad a few times a year and do business with him and my brother.
Russians do a lot of their construction work with the Amish and Mennonites. A lot of the time there will be Mennonites in their construction crews.
The Russian crew might be from some other Eastern European country, but people call them “The Russians”.

Let’s not overthink this home building industry. There’s a reason the state of Louisiana allows a homeowner to act as their own GC.

Having immigrant labor is nothing new, especially in the South, South West, and California. This has been going on since the 1980s , with a huge increase in the late 1990s. And roofers are almost exclusively Hispanic.
If we keep deporting or chasing off immigrant laborers, then home construction is going to get really, really expensive. There needs to be a new model of home construction - quality Pre-fab modular units that can be dropped in place and added onto, with i/10 the labor force. I know that there are some high- tech companies that are already offering this, but not enough.

You hit on a key point. If we paid workers what they were actually worth, investment funds would be worthless.
Put all the lawyers and bankers on an island of cannibals, and you'd have a good start.

I am a homebuilder. Approx 25-35 custom houses a year.
If you would like, you can come look and see what they do.
They are legal, some are working toward citizenship.
I pay them well.
They work circles around the local “white” talent.
No dui’s court dates etc.
I’m all for deporting illegals as they make it hard on the legals as well as locals.

All of this can be fixed. It wasn’t because they didn’t want it to be.
They want the chaos and instability supplied by the foreign invaders.
They want you to feel helpless and hopeless, so you will cry out for them to do anything, make a new law, to fix it. That’s how our liberties are eroded.

Where is the builder project manager? It's usually a white guy being paid market rates. On my last build, this dude didn't notice that the fireplace flue sloped downward for a few feet before it went vertical. I'm no construction expert, but that seemed bad, and he didn't catch it. It doesn't matter what the latinos building your house do, or do not, it matters that the builder doesn't give a shite.

Because dead beats in this country won't work. EBT cards, public housing and welfare.

On average that's absolute fact, at least in Florida. Have a Cat 5 come through and you'll see how much better newer houses do.

The Mexicans also show up and if you need another worker "they know somebody". And pretty soon all the employees are Mexican. Blacks and whites that used to fill the ranks don't even apply when there is an opening.
I think in many parts of the country things will have to be pretty economically bad and government assistance cut to reverse this.
