I didn’t suggest otherwise.

They had no idea whether or not Ukraine would be communist or not.

No. But they KNEW that the USSR WAS communist.

They wanted out. This was their best option.

Context matters.

Oh you mean like Sudan/South Sudan, the largest humanitarian crisis of our lifetime. We.....well George Clooney and his bff Obama, invented South Sudan with our money, lit the fking fuse and walked away....and we have not lifted a finger to stop it.

So why Ukraine, its all about the money, no one believes Russia is going to invade the EU, its about the money.

And if those provinces are not pro Russian, explain to me why millions have fled.......TO RUSSIA since the war began.

68,

Not with the map again. So do one for the US, the whole southwest speaks spanish.......Does Spain have claim to it? Do we kick in South Florida?

The people voted to be part of Russia. And why wouldnt they, it was Ukraine that kept killing and harassing them.

Because the Globalist do not want it to end, this is their “fire starter” for the GREAT RESET.

They won’t do anything that could end this war, and that’s a fact

I guess large swaths of California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas should go back to Mexico under this flimsy justification.

You know this example is reverse of the point you tried to make. The United States obtained that land in the Mexican-American war. So Mexico ceded that land to the US as a result of conflict. And later the final pieces were purchased via the Gadsden Purchase.

So you actually supported the point of the OP.

Why can't Mexico have southern Texas? Its not really Texas. Why can't Mexico have southern Cal? No really, why can't they have all of California. I'll give them California if they leave Texas alone.

Same as the reply above.

Why should we spend money and let more die to prevent Russia taking over historically and ethnically Russian territory?

The war in Ukraine was not over Ukrainian territory alone. It was for Syria, Iran, Lebanon, Gaza and The Westbank. And Israel, America, and NATO are winning that war in resounding fashion. The idea was always to attrit Russia so that we could vanquish its allies in the Middle East.

Trump is viscerally against wars like the one in Ukraine, but he won’t stop it because he is 100% in favor of getting Russian influence out of the ME so that Israel and the modern Arab states can make a lasting peace and a great economic zone.

We will probably have a peace deal when Russia resigns itself to the loss of the ME and their own Great Power ambitions. Only then can Trump belabor the neocons into accepting a Russian sphere of influence. This is where I think it will end up, with Russia as a regional power but not really a world power. I think that is the way it will work out because that is what comports with the reality - Russia has nuclear weapons and great mineral resources, but it’s a second rate economy.

Send all the illegals in the US to California and then give it to Mexico. This would fix so many problems in the US, especially getting Hollywood the frick out of here.

True.

However, that did not change the fact that:

the USSR WAS communist.

Dissolution had not yet occurred in full.

Ukraine voted on December 1st.

The USSR dissolved on December 25th

A lot of bloodshed would be avoided, and areas that speak mostly Russian would just be Russian. Let it stop.

Do you realize Russia uses that as a tactic to seize land on the border?

They will transplant their own citizens or give those on the border Russia citizenship to claim that they are just freeing their own people.

Ukraine predates the founding of Russia by about 400 years.
That may or may not be true, but between 862 - 882 AD both regions were established, however, Kiev was already, long before Moscow emerged, a center of commerce and politics.

Define what a country is then.

A sovereign state that is capable of enforcing its own borders and maintaining its own existence. Ukraine has been Russia’s bitch going back centuries.

So east European nations (and many others, including Israel) don’t qualify as countries in your eyes because they can’t defend against a major military power?
