Mitch McConnell has practically announced his intentions to cut social security, Medicare, and Medicaid. I know many of you love posting MAGA and NPC memes, but this is a really grace concern.

Those are 3 of the most popular programs in American History. And they effect Trumps base just as much as Dems. Ironically more so if you believe conservatives work harder, meaning they pay more into social security.

If you are below 45 years old, I see this as a huge problem. Why is this being ignored on here.

We are well on our way to losing this, anyway. Have been for a long time.

Because the Democrats have been using any change in these programs as a principal scare tactic for decades.

I remember when: "The Republicans were going to cut back so much that old peopole will only afford dog and cat food."

Bc as someone who is under 45, I accepted long ago that I’ll never see a cent of the money I put into social security.

I am not afraid of losing it because I did not build my future or the future of my family around reliance on the government...

Will it suck that I paid into social security and could possibly never draw, yes but it will not affect my stability in retirement either...

There have been numerous threads over the years on this very subject. Nothing is being ignored, you just are too lazy to search

The irony will be that, if given power, Democrats will likely propose mean testing benefits. You will be labeled greedy to take social security if you already have retirement savings. They want all of it, so they'll tax retirement plans as well.

I'd rather keep the money now and invest it in the private sector. Long term betting on the federal government is not a sound strategy in my mind.

Socialist security is a commie Jew idea so be against it. Roosevelt.

Medicare keeps mds from maximizing profit. How dare the govt make me serve the poor and aged at cut rates.

Some of that.

McConnell says last week
the recent tax cut hurts our cash flow by 200 billion this year due to lower tax on corps, and so we need to cut Medicare to come up with the difference.

Because I'm planning on being able to retire without it. If you plan things 20+ years in advance and don't suck at life you can get a good bit accomplished.

Social Security needs to be phased-out and ultimately eliminated. Most folks would be much better off if they invested 6.2% of their earnings in a 401k or mutual funds than sending it to the federal government under the guise of Social Security.

It's horribly mismanaged, like most commie ideas

Because I'm in my mid 20's with an established career, 401K and health insurance through my company.

I don't need the fricking government to provide for me.
I need them to get off my back and out of my wallet.

Neither have I. But I'm presenting this because at its core, it's the purest form of government theft. Its completely apolitical, since GOP supporters are going to get trashed just as hard as Dems.

And many people in Red states rely on social security. Look up the top 10 with drawers in the US.

The question is “why aren’t Democrats afraid of these programs going bankrupt?”

Social Security is an old and outdated federal government retirement program that is unsustainable and unnecessary. It is most likely going to be gone by the time I'm 65 anyway. At minimum the age for social security should be raised to 75 or 80.
