Don’t say it’s for continuity because we replace the heads of every agency and department each administration.

Most of these jobs aren’t even necessary. This whistleblower soy boy is a nobody.

When a new President is inaugurated the first move should be to flush all the trash from the previous administration. Who do you think they’re going to act like they still work for? They said themselves they were going to have an Obamacare shadow government. Well here it is.

Trump is an outsider who didn’t realize how deep the swamp is. There are guys like that clown all over every agency in DC. The heads of the agencies have to hire qualified people and the only people qualified in DC are 0bama holdovers since he was in office for 8 years plus Bush days wasn’t exactly MAGA either.

Trump screwed up b/c he hired nobody off the list of resumes he got through his website he created after being elected. 80k resumes were in there supposedly. Including mine. I was never called.

The agencies in DC need to be spread out into flyover country but the heads of those agencies will never agree to it b/c they don’t want to live in Oklahoma or give up the extra pay they make while living in DC

People literally fly into DC from all over the country to work in govt agencies and when they retire, they get DC salary but live in Tampa or ATL or Charlotte. It’s a giant scam

Leftists routinely hire leftists and exclude conservatives in the hiring and promotion process.

Many agencies actually have affirmative action departments, which allows people who couldn’t spell the word cat to draw a large salary. If you’re a straight white male who isn’t a Comey-level fairy, it’s an uphill fight.

Quite a many of them are unionized. Trump signed EOs that rolled back labor protections but those were struck down in the judiciary. He made a big to do of it upon first entering office but of course was met with furious resistance.

Not that I approve, I side with Trump on his efforts there, just throwing out a major factor.

Do you know how many employees fall under the authority of the incoming president? I saw the book on TV once. It looked like Webster's Unabridged. There are not 1,000s. There are 10,000s.
In the second term he might be able to make a dent.

Did you put in for a government position and plan to move to the DC area to replace someone who is a holdover?

Obama stacked them up and they all have tenure and can barely be fired if they killed someone on live TV.

17 agencies with intel; the newer ones are compliments of Bush & Obama had a blast packing them with Brennan spies.

Trump should cut it all out. I recall in the beginning of his Presidency he did some to save money but I have a feeling they won't ever allow anyone to gut them because of 911.

because there are well over 3000 of them and trump was naive in thinking they were capable of just doing their jobs and being professionals rather then ate up insane sky screamers hell bent on taking him down with lies and setups every chance they can.

i truly hope he has learned his lesson and cleans house after he gets reelected in 2020, if not we will still have 5 more years of this never ending leaker which hunt BS

For many if not most, he cannot without going through a labor union process. At will definitely not an option. Unfortunately.

There are over 4 Million employees in the executive branch. LINK Trump had over 4000 positions to fill upon transition. LINK

The website immediately after Trump was elected was for jobs with the transition team, not jobs for the civil service.

90% of all civil service jobs are done through and pursuant to the Pendleton Civil Service Act and aren't Presidential appointees LINK There are only a little less than 4000 direct presidential appointments and only about 321 that don't require the advice and consent of the Senate. LINK

As mentioned by another poster, about 1/3 of the civil service positions are unionized. They are not at will employees

Its tradition for all US attorney's to resign upon a new administration. (By US Attorney, referring to someone holding the job of US Attorney, not just a lawyer working for the DOJ) Not all those resignations are usually accepted to ensure an orderly transition.

When Trump took office, there were only 47 remaining US attorneys. (Trust) Sessions asked for all their resignations. Trump did not accept the resignations of Rosey Rosenstein or Dana Boente. All the rest left pretty quietly, except Preet Bahara, who acted a fool, drama queen. LINK

Unrealistic. You have to keep in mind that Clinton's and Bush's have been filling positions since 1998. You can't just undue all those appointments in less than a 4-year turn.

In addition, Trump ran against the Clinton and Bush Dynasties in a single election. Both sides had numerous loyal supporters that were hoping to benefit from the 2016 election. Trump made many enemies just by taking their turn in the White House.

Sounds like he should name a Swampdraining Czar and put that bastard to work.

When they retire, don't replace them. Fire what you can for cause and don't replace them.Eliminate departments where you can and lay the mothers off.

Put the fear of God in the SOB's

Senate needs to confirm many positions.
The Reps (Cocaine Mitch) will only confirm "their" choices.
