I went on my first cruise last year. Not nearly as bad as you describe. When all of this shite passes I will probably go on another. Pretty much bang for the buck.

I share bill burr's opinion about people who go on cruises.

The ports in USVI were closed to cruise ships last week.
ETA: flights of tourists were also stopped.

My problem with cruising is I don't like but about 10 people in the entire world enough to speak to them more than a couple of times a year and a cruise ship is chock a bock full of folks looking to make friends when 9 of 10 are so boring they don't have any friends to speak of. That and the opportunities to catch fish or shoot something are very limited and when I ain't working I want to catch a fish or kill something! I can see where folks who are into partying for the sake of partying and attending shows and dipping their toes very shallowly into different cultures without having to deal with the down side of those cultures would enjoy a cruise....I just don't like people that much....I don't go to UGA games much anymore for the same reason....folks annoy the shite out of me....it ain't them, its me.... but I try to avoid crowds if possible....I am a master at the art of social distancing and have been perfecting it for years!

Only crew on those boats you saw. There is not enough space in any of the ports in Florida for those ships to dock all at once.

Maybe they only watch Fox News....
The Governnor of Georgia just issued a Stay At Home order. He had a presser, and said he would have ordered one sooner, but only recently learned that you could get COVID-19 from asymptomatic people.
The media has been reporting this since February....

One of the cruises docking today in South Florida left on March 7. A whole lot has changed since then.
As far as what we knew, nothing has changed since then.

I have friends on a 180 day cruise. Not all cruises are less than 10 days.

These weren't docked at a dock. They were anchored in open water about 3 miles from the shore.

Hey Gtmodawg,
About 30 years ago the wife and I went to Placencia point in Belize, condos there now but very remote then.
Had a group of doctors staying at the lodge with their fat wives, bitching at every dinner about what they were not catching.
Second day this guy shows up with his Mayan fishing guide (fly fishing for tarpon, etc). The owner wont let the young guy eat at the table so this fella, his guide, and my wife and I would have dinner out on the deck.
While these arses are complaining they cant catch anything and disparaging Mayan indians, the fella with us is talking about how he is so tired from hauling in fish all day.
I asked if he was serious he said yeah talk to the guide. Young fella said that he was looking to hire some help cause he thought business was going to pick up, he said some cable company from the states had signed him up to do some shows, I said whats the name of the company, and he said something called ESPN!
The fella he was guiding said you ever see the movie A River Runs Through It? He said those casting scenes are obviously edited but I swear this Mayan kid is the closest you will ever see in real life.
Guy sounded like you. He said he takes one vacation with the wife and one on his own to remote locations around the world.
