Why are people still going on cruises and why we still letting corona infected ships dock?

This makes no sense at all. We are weeks into this thing being serious and people are still going on cruise ships/floating Petri dishes and we are still letting then dock in major population centers that have ports?

Why?

Someone justify this.

We just bailed out all these cruise companies....I'm not sure why you think we are going to let them sit out in the ocean with people sick and dying on them.

Yeah it's pretty insane that the NBA can't play in empty arenas yet thousands of senior citizens are congregating in major cities and on a cruise ship for days / weeks at a time.

I think at least one of these ships left 30 days ago or more...i was looking at a cruise this year, but will never take one now. No way I’m getting trapped on a boat

I mean, that far back i can understand a little bit. But if you went on a cruise in the last week or two, you understood what you were getting yourself into.

You have any evidence that any have set sail in the past 10-15 days?

One of the cruises docking today in South Florida left on March 7. A whole lot has changed since then.

These people chose to go on this cruise AFTER the China Virus crap started .

Why should taxpayers be stuck paying for their stupid decision ?

Both ships left way before the virus broke out in the Western Hemisphere.

And the only cruise ships getting bailed out are the ones that fly U.S. flags, that is a very, very small number.

So the 20+ cruise ships off the coast of Florida have all been at sea for over a month?

My family LOVES cruising...I DESPISE it.....but my going on one every couple of years allows me to go bill fishing around the world and duck and goose hunting all by myself or with my son if he can be induced to go...so I put up with it...but they are as bad as you hear. People pushing and shoving desperately trying to entertain themselves. I enjoy cruise destinations but would much prefer to fly in, rent a car and a house with a housekeeper/cook and entertain myself.

Depending on where the cruise goes though it is possible to do some fishing off a Panga for nearly nothing and catch some fish...including sails and tuna....

We are supposed to be going on a 7 day cruise in August but I think Ive got 'em talked into cancelling and going to Guatemala.....the sail fish bite won't be what it is in winter BUT it'll still beat anything in North America or Mexico anytime of year....and usually the boat ride is about 1/2 a mile! If the 'Rona is still about by August we will go dry camping to a lake I know in Montanna in the RV and catch 20+inch gulping Browns for 2 solid weeks and wont see another soul most days....life is GOOD!!!!

They shouldn't be....but the "ship" already sailed on that...the taxpayer dollars have already been allocated.

These ships have been anchored off the coast for a few weeks. I saw a when I was out on the water in South FL a few weeks ago.
