Who should we get behind for 2028?

Americans have a very short memory, last night proved that
Things were catastrophically bad under Biden, but gas prices caused by an unpopular war caused many people to stay home or switch their votes
I’ve been leaning DeSantis for a while since he has been the best governor in the nation, but in 2028 he will be 2 years removed from office and the spotlight
Right now, I’m thinking Rubio may be our best chance, because if we can’t get more black and brown Americans on our side, we are in really big trouble

If the Dems do what they said they would do now they got power and control again, it won't matter who we get behind.

2008 is going to be another wipeout so because of that, Vance needs to be the sacrificial lamb. Cut the head off the snake.

What makes you believe he'll actually run in 2028?

The republicans have to distance themselves from DJT. He really has only done 2 good things in 6 years, TCJA and border. But, he’s wildly unpopular and you have to tramp down his ego and not let him pick his predecessor. The GOP bench is horrible. Trump has shut down anyone that doesn’t worship him and we need someone like that.

It's too early. All I know is the GOP must redefine itself. MAGA is done.

The GOP bench is horrible
DeSantis and Rubio are both strong candidates
I think Vance MIGHT BE good, but I really don’t know
The democrats will run someone that is extreme or leans extreme
Last night was really bad, but we will have one more shot in 2028 - we need to make it count

gas prices caused by an unpopular war
This makes it easy to summarize, but it's hardly the whole of it. The war itself is unpopular and was before the gas prices finished climbing. The inflation caused by continued record spending was hitting everyone in the arse before the gas prices did and yes, Trump played a significant role in that with his moronic "big beautiful bill". The jobs that Trump promised have no manifested, replaced instead by fears of AI economic takeover. Trump's response was to double down on "we need AI because... China." The housing market is a massive mess and interest rates continue to climb. Trump's response was to "get a 50 year mortgage". People are afraid of the US government. We have multiple assassination attempts on Trump and Charlie Kirk is killed openly. The intelligence agencies are highly, highly suspect and Trump has done nothing to address that. Epstein is a touchstone of this. Trump campaigned on it. When he got in office, he began attacking anyone who asked about it. Now the government is pushing to put up cameras to monitor everyone and anyone who questions that has been insulted.
Trump turned on those who put him in office. On a lot of things, he was defeated by a corrupt congress and court system, but he also turned his back on much of what he campaigned on and the independents who make up the bulk of younger voters in this country responded last night. Keep telling yourself it's just "high gas prices". The GOP will get smoked again in '28 regardless of where gas prices are.

Rubio
In order to win he would have to distance himself from Trumps foreign policy. This will not be easy and Trump only endorses candidates who worship him. Trump will actively work against anyone who doesn't say he was the best president of all time.
Just like this election, the candidate who wins the primary might not be the best person to run for office.

Vance is clearly aware that the war is unpopular and is regularly referenced as being against it / tempering actions.
It's a smart move with a view to 2028

Last night showed that Trump’s endorsement is likely meaningless and his influence has been vaporized. Now candidates will do whatever they can to create distance between him and their respective messages.

Vance and Rubio won't have a chance. It has to be someone who never served in the Trump presidency. MAGA is officially dead.

Vance and Rubio have zero charisma combined.

2028 was lost tonight. Losing Texas makes it impossible for a Republican to win.

You aren't voting your way out of the Great Replacement.

True, but Biden had the charisma of a used condom and he became President.

Every President is deemed a tremendous failure when they leave office now.
That trend will continue because the country is full of entitled, selfish morons that are never satisfied and will always bitch and complain no matter who is in power.

Look at the overall trend since Clinton left office. War, war, inflation and war. This country is not on a healthy trajectory and hasn't been for some time. Obama played a destructive game with interest rates we're paying for now and that bought him another term, but our government is a huge mess divorced from the will of the people. International elites and corporate monopolies are swelling like ticks on American federal spending and war-mongering and our young people are paying the price. If you think it's just "entitled, selfish morons", enjoy the narrative because it will only get worse.
