Do you really think you can imagine whatever situation/circumstance would produce such a reaction?? Its impossible.
What we do know, is that it happened in the past and could very well happen again.
Just because your weakness rules your ability to imagine such an event.... doesn't mean others wouldn't react in a more honorable and brave manner.

An abusive government deciding that citizens rights are meaningless. To be any more precise would be a report of what has happened. To give a threat would invite a response and you seem to be asking for someone to comment with a definitive answer much like what a glow worm would do

It's not to line up across a battlefield with the military.
It's more like neighbor to neighbor.
Local officials backing the tyrannical government (mayors, police chiefs, city council members) wouldn't be able to have a normal life, their kids wouldn't be able to go to schools, they couldn't go to the stores, their wives wouldn't have a social life, all for fear that they would be knocked off at any given time.
Think Lebanon and Sarajevo.
