I’d bet the nonchalance by the teacher is partly due to seeing fights regularly. How many fights at school go unseen by the public?
Also, the rules are not friendly to the adult trying to break up fights between kids. Those teachers likely acted exactly like their school district wanted them to.

Well that is bs. Should have been teachers looking like grapplers getting on both of them period. Holding a cup of coffee while saying stop it. WTH.

Things have def changed since the 70s. Back then, a coach of some sort would have rushed in and diffused the situation. And messed up the puncher. Wonder if this was/is due to DOE established in 1980?

Other students did more to break that up than the teachers did, it looked like. I’m not watching that again to double check though. I break up fights regularly. We have a small female AP who has jumped right in before we men teachers could even run over to the fight. I don’t expect the women staff to break up fights, but the men at my school sure do. And we aren't slow or particularly gentle about it.
