Trump winning in 2016

or

Trump winning in 2020

Explain your answers

Bonus, and this probably goes without saying, but which media/liberal meltdown would be worse, what we saw in 2016, or what we'll see in 2020?

But the meltdown if he wins this year will be spectacular. Rather than shock, I expect absolute despondency.

If he pulls off re-election after Russia, Pandemic, and Minneapolis... That might just Trump it.

2016. 2020 is pretty much guaranteed at this point. God Emperor has literally no competition. There shouldn't even be an election imo.

Trump winning in 2016 was one of the most incredible political feats in our nation's history. I cannot see a 2020 win topping that. Despite current polling showing a solid Biden lead, I have read on this board that oddsmakers still shows Trump as the betting favorite.

To prevail despite the economic downturn would be big achievement, but I think most voters who are not already pledged to one side will understand that you cannot hold any incumbent responsible for such a rare event.

2016 was an epic campaign. We may never again see another person work as hard to become President. He was and is relentless

2016.

When you basically have the entire apparatus of the US government and foreign spy agencies against you and you still win, it is hard to top that.

Christ, Hillary is the worst fricking candidate in history given she couldn’t win with all those advantages.

definitely 2016

Trump is now the incumbent being challenged by a demented diaper shitting old fart with a token black female VP running mate.

You're mostly a level headed guy. Do you think he wins this year?

2016 and it ain't close. His winning in 2020 is almost a lock as it is for most incumbents. Just the human resistance to change alone makes it infinitely easier for an incumbent to win....Trump's win in 2016 is unprecedented. It wasn't a shock to some of us on the left because we knew he was running on a 1980s democratic platform and that platform resonates with working people...and those are the people who elected him and will do so again in 2020.

This kind of thinking is why Hillary lost. Nothing is guaranteed

The left didn't think Trump had a chance in 2016. Those that weren't "With Her" didn't necessarily get out to vote for her because they didn't feel they need to to defeat Trump.

The visceral hatred for Trump was not there in the lead up to 2016 like it will be in 2020.

Now the DNC has handicapped themselves with their pathetic candidate but even Jimmy Carter got elected once.

Trust me on this. This will not be a slam dunk.

Electing Trump in 2016 was the biggest frick you to the establishment that voters have ever done. 2020 election is just people realizing that it felt damn good.

2016. We didn't really know what we were getting. Now we do. And he won't have to finance the campaign with his own money. It's pouring in.
One thing remains the same. His Dem opponent will again have a struggle standing up without assistance.

Damned silly way to behave but there is a large element of that. I don't think it has as much impact in 2020 because his track record speaks for itself and, despite much blather and his constantly saying shite simply for shock value to humor his supporters whose only support is based on his trolling abilities, has not been nearly as disastrous as many thought it would be. The economy has been robust until recently and I don't think many voters hold him liable for the economic impact of the virus because it really isn't his call alone. There was enough opposition in the GOP through 2018 to keep him in check and his lame duck status in 2020 will provide more of that if the democrats lose the house. I do not like Trump AT ALL....I think he is, as a person, a despicable human being....but his platform has largely been one of the Democratic Party before Bill Clinton moved the party closer to Reagan than LBJ and FDR and he has done some shite that I would have never thought possible....namely he has flat out laid the lie to the entire austerity and Hayek mentality in the GOP. He has proven that "conservatives" will support huge increases in government spending to stimulate the economy IF it is their man doing the spending....and that means a much needed, long overdue end to Reagan and the damage done to working people in the US. Going forward both parties are going to pay lip service to American workers and not to open markets and this will stem the growth of wealth at the top and shrinking wages in the middle....the right has finally come to realize that buying a Toyota may be the best personal choice but it isn't necessarily what is best for the nation...and DJT has allowed those who were wont to recognize this the freedom to do so without fear of being labled a liberal.
